Subject: basics or 1.1

I received carrara 1.1 with a mag disc. I am looking at carrara basics as well. Don't have the money for studio, as I jsut purchased poser and vue. Does anyone know the difference between 1.1 and basics? Is there much need to by basics from 1.1? Any help would be appreciated! Paul g

Hi Pauldg, I haven't compared/don't remember the feature list for 1.1 vs. the Basic package but do remember that Basic was missing a couple of the high-end features. Basic may be more stable than 1.1. While 1.1 is ok, I'd encourage you not to completly judge Carrara by that version - it had "issues" that have been fixed in subsequent editions. Purchasing Basic may be the smarter move if you can do that. It also will allow you to upgrade later for less money I believe. However, 1.1 will get you headed in the right direction. It also will allow you to create 3d content in a way that is impossible to do with Vue and Poser. Mark

Basics was built on Carrara Studio 2, so it has more tools than 1.1. If you are considering Basics, I recommend you wait 2 weeks. Regards - Bob Stockwell Eovia

Thank you both. I will wait, as it was going to be a gift from my wife anyway. I appreciate the feedback. Paul g

Just looked at the new Basics 2. Looks great! New features are intriguing.

Actually, it does not come with the plug-ins. It is compatible with the plug-ins, including VectorStyle 2 and TransPoser 2. The previous version did not support all of our plug-ins. Best - Bob
