Subject: OT - Pop up blocker

Sorry for this OT post, but I just finished rebuilding my computer and lost some of my "stuff". I need to know of a good, free pop up blocker. I had one, but lost it and I'm afraid to download just any old thing out there. Any help would be appreciated.

Google toolbar, or SP2 for XP, if you're feeling brave:)

Thanks pdblake, but SP2 is why I had to rebuild my computer (and this time I put Windows 2000 on it) and I don't trust toolbars. LOL What a sad state of affairs huh?

I've been using Google toolbar for ages, all it seems to log is your searching habits and that seems to be anonymous anyway. I also have XP with SP2 as well but with the MS pop-up blocker disabled.

Just a thought, is the blocker part of SP2 or is it part of the latest IE? It might actually be built into IE now. Try MS update site, if W2K hasn't already nagged you to death to do it:) (Edited to squash escaped typos)

Why not try an alternative web browers like FireFox or Opera? They come with lots of useful features, not just popup blockers.

Or, if you are one of many that rely on IE capabilities in a browser, you could always try Slimbrowser. It's like IE, only less buggy. And a lot safer, and it's got built in popup blockers. MS

Dump Internet Explorer and get Firefox instead. You'll be so much happier when you do.

Yup, I recommend Firefox, as well. Built in popup blocker, overall better browser. If you absolutely can't give up your Internet Exploiter, Panicware's Popup Stopper is all right. See link. bonni

I love Firefox-Mozilla Browser. I switched to it about 1 year ago and love the optional extensions for it.

firefox all the way, but if not, go with the Maxthon browser. looks like ie6, but has more security. (Not as much as firefox though)
