Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 4:12 am)
Hi Jenny, I'm guessing that your "Poser" directory (Where you've pointed vue to) doesn't have the geometries required for the scene. I've started doing as follows....each time I install something to any of my 4 runtimes... Extract stuff. Zip up the Geometries folder. Extract zipped geometries into the geometries folder where Poser 6 is actually installed. Delete the contents of the runtime only geometries. This reduces files space and lets me use the models in both P6 and vue.....I'm still confused as to why it can find the textures but not the geometries...but I can live with that:) eric
Ok, number one you need to update Vue to the latest versions. Poser 6 is very new, don't forget that. #2 You have to point Vue to Poser 6. Two ways - i am not sure what version of Vue you have. Either go to the preferences and update the setting for Poser there. Or rename the Poser application Vue is pointing to so that Vue can't find it anymore. Then with the next start Vue will ask you where the application is and you can point it to Poser 6. #3 Poser files (pz3) don't have full pathnames to the textures and/or geometries. What does this mean? That means you have to create your pz3 files with the Poser Vue is pointing to or you have to move all elements that are part of the Poser file to the related directories in the actual Poser. #4 Poser 6 is the first version that saves morphs into a separate file by default. Vue can't read this extra file yet, therefore it could happen that your characters import without morphs. You can uncheck that option in the Poser 6 preferences. I hope i haven't forgotten anything. Let us know how it goes and good luck.

Hi Wabe, Looking at your reply, it is suggested that this procedure would also work with Vue 4 (and mover 5). However, I have not been able to get it working. E-on reports that there is a beta update for mover 5 for better support of Poser 6, but this is not available as a seperate download (only included in the Vue 5 update). Do I need to upgrade to Vue 5 in order to use Poser 6 scenes? Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
I use Vue 4 D'esprit. If I point to Poser 6 Directory, Vue tells me I do not have a valid poser serial. At present, I point to my poser 5 directory, which works for most files (even created with poser 6) but Jessi and James will not load into vue. I think other specific poser 6 features will also not load. As long as I am using characters other then the poser 6 native figures I would probably be ok.
Ok, 4 d'Esprit i understood. But which version? First you should update to the newest i think. Even when i am not sure wether it helps - 4 d'Esprit was out looooong before Poser 6 was out. The difficulty is, that Poser does not store full pathnames in it's pz3 file. And things like textures and geometry are only linked in. So other applications need to have a strategy to find those textures / geometries. This is one reason why Vue needs to know where the appropriate Runtime is. To find the textures and/or geometry. Because of this it is obvious that your 4 d'Esprit has problems with Poser 6 stuff - it is looking for those things in the Poser 5 Runtime. What i would do is to install everything in the Poser 5 Runtimes and link Poser 6 to those. Then Vue should be able to find those things. Except of the original Poser 6 characters of course. Should work like that. And don't forget to switch Poser 6 to Poser 5 behaviour - because of the morphs that are saved in a separate file from Poser 6 on.

Sorry, did not quite get your question. Vue updated to version 22 (latest update available. I have my content in seperate runtimes altogether, except for the poser 6 stuff. Vue picks up everything, but hangs on P6 figures. Tried with the trial version of Vue 5, which loads Jessi without problems. I'll try and put jessi and james in a separate runtime too, maybe that will do the trick. Anyway, thanks for replies.

I tried the "uncompress" python as mentioned in an earlier thread, but when I import, nothing shows up?
