I just started using Bryce a few weeks ago, and would't mind and opinion or even laughter or better yet advice on this image. Bear in mind it's not finished yet, I need to correct the obvious fish colliding problem at the bottom. The image will look better when I'm done, to do a fast render I turned off the anti-alias, spatial optimization, gamma correction. I hope it will turn out brighter when I am done. So any suggestions for a newbie is greatly appreciated. THANKS

Pardon the 2 images. the last message board I was at a while back wouldn't let you upload an image until you reached 50 posts, so I posted a link just in case

Nice ocean floor! Looks very like underwater sand, and the lighting's great, too. I don't know if I care for the color or surface of the water, but have no suggestions for improving them so I should shut up. :P It seems a bit crowded in the dolphin/whale thingy area. Maybe you could move it back or angle it or alter the pose? Looks like there's some interesting structure behind it, but the creature blocks it all out. Just my shooting my mouth off. Great work for a new user!

Thanks actually I was probably going to get rid of the dolphin completly, and move the sea lion anyway. As for the colour of the water I couldn't get it right from the beginning and just settled for that-unless someone else has any suggestions. Ocean floor is just a terrain brought into the terrain editor, dampened a lot with I think I used rolling hills in that fractal drop down menu. Then slope, height, basic noise added. And being the rookie I am I just added another terrain in the background and a little more dampening. Just put that there to cover up the visible horizen. But anyway thanks I appreciate any criticism/opinions/advice/laughter that I can get my hands on

Hey bromyaur. I like the pic very well. As for the water color, have you tried playing with the skies? I know you have blocked it out with the water, but it still affects the scene. If this sounds stupid, please forgive me, I'm still learning the ropes of Bryce myself. I do know, that I often spend more time flipping through the random sky generator looking for that perfect look then I usually spend on the pic itself. At least its worth a try. I hope this helps. Any info you get out of the guru's who live at this site is going to be terrific. There are many talented people here who LIKE TO HELP! Amazing! LOL If you get any precious nuggets of wisdom thrown your way, please share them with your fellow new artists!

Oh, that's a sea lion! (Slaps self) That's actually what I was talking about, though with the actual dolphin gone, he'll have a little more space

I think it looks great the way it is...If I was gonna change anything I would use a sandy(or something) bump map on the ground so it wouldnt be as smooth.

For the overall color, you can also play with the sun, fog, and haze colors. Any and all of those combos will work to change it around.
