Subject: SR-1 Broke my Poser...

Orestes ( ) posted Tue, 31 May 2005 at 4:36 PM · edited Fri, 08 November 2024 at 1:20 PM

I Finally got around to downloading and updating my Poser 6 with the Service Release 1 update pack. I can open Poser just fine, but as soon as I open a .pz3 or add something to a new scene from the library, Poser crashes. Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks, Dave

Hmmm. No, I haven't seen this myself. Does it give you any kind of message before crashing, like, for instance, "out of memory blah blah blah"? Or does the app just disappear? Also, what OS you running, and can you provide some specs on your system, particularly your graphics card?

I had this problem when P6 was brand new, prior to SR1. It went away as soon as I got the latest drivers for my (nVidia) video card.

maxxxmodelz- No, no msg's or warnings, just gone as soon as the figures/scene appears in the preview window. I running it on an Athlon64 3500, 2g DDR RAM, Nvidia 6600 vid card on XP Home. I've had no problems with Poser til now, But I'll go try xoconostle's idea and see if my card needs driver updates...

Best of luck to you! My card is a 5500FX. I'm not positive but suspect that the drivers released in February '05 are the same for both cards.

Ok, I've updated the drivers, and so far so good Poser is working again! Thanks!

Let us know how it goes with the driver updates. The fact that Poser actually starts up, and only shuts down after you add something to the scene is peculiar. Don't really know what could be causing it.

Yip, I do think the vid drivers did it. I've been working in Poser all evening without any further trouble. Thanks for your help. :D

Cool, I'm glad it worked out. :-)
