Here's a quick render with a product called "tree druid" a Carrara plug-in. Finally some decent trees to use with my renders. I'll hopefully post some low-res freebies soon. Though even the low-res files are fairly large. I'll see what I can do. The great thing, that it does, is that it uses one leaf tex/trans map and applies it to ALL the leaves. well enough on that. Just wanted to post an image that I finally could do now having some decent trees. ;-) Rendered in Bryce. Trees ranged from 9 megs to 3 megs (leaves only). James

I think Tree Druid is available in a stand alone version as well.

Yes it is, but for the PC only I believe. Well I've been able to cut the file size down to 1.1 meg as a 3ds object (so I can't test it in Poser -- works fine with Bryce), but now that I've installed Poser Pro Pack the 3ds import doesn't work. The alternitive is a 4.5 meg obj file that I know works 100%. Now I have to make sure that I can distribute the file freely. James

James, 3DS should import to Poser. Try running the file over Martins' MaConveter & see if that works. Also, you can create some really nice trees (& other plantlife) with the Jungle 3D stuff at http://www.gardenhose.com/. The only caveate is that you need to pre-plan your set-up beforehand (which is how you normally work anyway?).

Big or small filesize, those trees are worth every byte. Masterful as always, James.

heyas; yes, they look great. did you use it for the bushes, too? yeah, check the license to make sure you're allowed to give away/sell models from tree druid. some company/site somewhere got in a lot of hot water selling individual trees made with one or the other of the tree-maker software.
