Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 09 4:28 pm)
I'm not familiar with Max (far too expensive for me!) but that hair seems a little blurry. Perhaps the texture needs sharpening? I have to say that I'm pretty sure my firefly could render that scene in a similar amount of time. However I don't have Poser 6 (yet) so can't give it a try...

Lana, Criticism is not the same thing as trolling. Especially since it was specifically asked for in this case! Perhaps we can stop sniping at each other and talk about the software and the art, not the person? I really don't want to be locking threads. Thanks Karen Poser Moderator

The pic just goes to show that it's not just a case of pressing a few buttons to add stuff & rendering that gets good results in any of the 3d apps, even an "inferior" low-ender like Poser. The head is actually poking through the hair in one spot, the lighting does look a little off to me with deep shadows on the left side of the face but glowing nostrils. Like Lana said there's no life in the eyes at all, no reflections in them & those strange black shapes around them are just unreal.

Well, I imported a Poser Scene in Max R7 using GestureMax.(Coz I can't get Firefly to work for me. Dunno how to. And Mr.Geep won't tell me, nor would he give me a pz3 file of his) Using VRay 1.46, Max R7 with SR1, Celeron 2.4, 1GB DDR 333, WinXP SP2. Render attached. 1200X900. No Postwork of any sort. No tweaking the mats in any way. Just import and render with one large area light. Shadow density .2, shadow rays /sample - 10. And I applied a mesh smooth coz the Jessi figure was a bit edgy around the neck. Still render took just 4 mins and 9 secs. 4 Mins and 9 secs! And the figs rigged in biped so you can do a lot more stuff with it.
