Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 30 8:14 pm)
"ATI Radeon 7000", "ATI Radeon 9000 Pro" & "ATI Radeon 9200 Pro". No problem w/ OpenGL in any of them in Vue5I or Vue4Pro. However, in Vue4 I was only able to do wireframe as OpenGL was also "dead slow" or "crashy". It's a Vue4 thing. You never did say what the rest of your hardware is.
Note that your video card, "ATI Radeon 9200SE" is not quite the swiftest, and due to the "SE" designation, has cut down number of pipelines. But it should run at least as well as my "7000".
I'd say "upgrade" your VUE if you want to do OpenGL.

Sapphire ATI Radeon 9200Se? That's an old one. I've got an Radeon 9600 Pro 256Mb which is a lot better then your 9200se, but even mine didn't run to well with Vue 4/5 and OpenGL
Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(
Food for thought.....

I've got an nVidia 6800 GT also - Open GL no problem. With an older nvidia, I had trouble in Vue4 and Vue4Pro. Really enjoying it now.
I'm using NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400. I use OpenGL with Vue 4 and have experienced the problems with sloooooowwwww redraws too. What I did was go to the File>Options menu (see screenshot) and pull back the instant draw quality a bit. I can still see solid, shaded objects, but more complex objects like the seagulls indicated, are wireframe. The refresh rate is usually about a second.
Hope this helps!

Jeeeez I am pulling my hair out here. All I wanna do is use OpenGL in Vue4.1/4.2 but can I??? Nooooooooo! I have an Sapphire ATI Radeon 9200Se DDR PCI card with fully customiseable OpenGL settings (latest drivers), and no matter what I do I cannot get Vue to settle with it. Even on relatively small scenes - less than 2million poly, 600 objects - simply moving an object takes forever; there's a 15 sec delay everytime! And if I decide to hide a layer...oh boy! The damn thing just locks up! It takes 99% of cpu power, according to Taskmanager, to the point where I have to reboot. I did that 5 friggin times!
So now I have had it with Vue and OpenGL - I have disabled it completely and gone back to wireframe, no acceleration, and already I see a VAST improvment. I was really hoping this new card would work with Vue since OpenGL can be useful, but apparently not.
I just wanna know what cards you guys have. I have a hunch you mostly have AGP cards, and haven't had any problems with OpenGL, am I right? :P I swear why the hell does Vue have to be so damn fussy???! Truespace seems to love my new card :/
