Did any UK peoples watch the first programme on TV ? Very eye opening insights - they take 3 professional photographers and give them a digital camera and they have to take 3 pics: one industrial, one urban, one landscape. The cameras they give are: to one photographer: a Nikon D2X, to another a Canon compact S70, to another a mobile phone camera. Now that is a challenge ! I think it was a bit cruel to give Joe Cornish the mobile phone the poor guy works almost exclusively in large format view cameras but he produced some amazing images even after he had 'accidentally' dropped the ****** thing off a pier onto the beach 30ft below :D. I hope they put the pics up on the web site for you all to see - for those in UK the exhibition at Tate Britain seems a must, for me definite.

oh no, I saw this advertised earlier, there was 'a picture of britain' on first, BBC one or two I think, and then 'a digital picture of Britain' on BBC 4 later. I hope someone in my family taped it for me ..... doh !

no but just saw david dim bubble what his face.. on the landscapes of gt britian and what inspired the classical artists and authors & poets, and learnt some fascinating rules to landscape art that could apply to photography was awesome... sound a good programme Richard, is it a series ?..laughing at the mobile phone..ekkkk!!!! l see where a photographer/ artist is up for the Turner prize this year..mmmmm if its on a web link richard let me know..:)... nikki

Only the first of 6 in a series ;) - so you can catch the others if you did miss this one. Actually I think it is repeated later in the week if you look on the web site.
The sight of Joe Cornish with a mobile phone camera on top of his tripod was something not to miss :D It was a bit contrived because Ian Berry who had the Nikon D2X was trying to take more candid shots and moaning the camera was too big and noticeable. Yep Nikki I watched the landscape painters one too :)

Yeah I was glued to the Dimbleby and missed this one too..

Oh well just me then - must be why the BBC put it on BBC4 late at night. It's Well worth it to see repeats - how three photographers have different methods and approach yet all in their way produce first class work. Not often you get a chance to see people like this working and explaining what they do and why.

i watched that, most of it anyway, stumbled on it flicking through the channels last night, missed the beginning cool programme apparently if you press the red button on the remote you can see the full gallery of photos and other stuff too i tried but it wasn't working for me, don't know why there's also a competition, you submit a photo to one of the eight regional categories and one of the three theme categories - rural landscape, urban landscape, human landscape the winners of the categories get photographic equipment with a value of around 500 and maybe their photographs exhibited it's all on the website - there's a link at the bottom of the page to the competition

I heard about it...will have to wait until it comes on PBS over here. Sounds very interesting.
