Subject: Greenbriar, Interposer or Riptide Plug-In?

I would love to import Poser models EASILY! into C4D, but the Greenbriar, Interposer and Riptide Plug-Ins are difficult at best in bringing Poser Models and their textures into C4D and visa versa. I need a Mac compatible Plug-In which will make importing Poser models into C4D with all materials in tact a snap! I don't know if this is possible without a degree in engineering, but after reading all the hype I am more confused than ever. I've looked at the Greenbriar, Interposer and Riptide Plug-Ins, but I need those of you who have used them to tell me the pros and cons of each? And please explain their differences?

1/ Riptide includes material files with the .obj file. It makes importing Wavefront obj files easier and is a such, for C4D users, a very good plugin. Afaik, Maxon took care the plugin was to be free. 2/ Greenbriar did interest me but apart from some problems with it, there was also a price tag I found exaggerated. 3/ InterPOSER is much cheaper and work fine. It is still in developement, but kuroyume took care to split it up in several levels. The version we now can use is perfectly capable of bringing poser files into cinema. pixelbased textures are perfectly read and transfered but node-based materials and rigging are not there yet. These are for the pro version that is being coded right now. Despite this, kuroyume just recently updated the ltd version we have now to 2.5. Just to show he does not forget to improve what is available now. You also have good and easy contact with the developer himself, and he is open for all suggestions concerning the evolution of this plugin. So for me, there is no doubt. Price/quality, interPoser is by far the winner.

I know the PPP/Lightwave plugin actually has Lightwave duplicate and transform the meshes into LWO files. As long as you don't rename anything, you can completely change the settings of the materials and it will work. Furthermore, it doesn't change anything in the original Poser files. Do these three plugins work the same way?

Just to clarify (in regards to my free Riptide plugin): 1. It is in fact for PC only - there is no Mac version available. 2. It is a Wavefront .obj format file import/export plugin - which happens to be a popular Poser format, but the plugin isn't really Poser-specific (it knows nothing about .pz3 files, doesn't load lights or rigging, etc.). 3. Because it's not Poser-specific, it works equally well at import/exporting models for Bryce, Vue and other rendering apps that grok .obj file format. 3. When Poser exports a material with transparency, it doesn't include the transparency map filename in the .mtl file, so you'll have to hunt those down after you import. You may also want to tweek the other material settings, but provided your C4D texture paths are set up to look in your Poser texture folders, most of the rest of the material settings (including textures) are loaded. 4. If you want to load scenes (.pz3 files), one of the other plugins listed above would be more appropriate (InterPoser would likely be my choice and I believe there is a Mac version of it as well). - Keith
