Note: this isn't intended to troll, or even imply there's a negative connotation in this, but I'd like a sanity check from you kind people on something I've seen as a trend.

I'm finding it interesting that TheGirl character doesn't seem to have much representation in the Renderosity store, or attract much attention in the Galleries (compared to Aiko products or renders, for example). She's pretty popular at PoserPro's, interestingly enough.

In fact, for the anime/cartoon figures, it seems to me in my casual browsing that PoserPros has a very large number of products/renders for the TheGirl (but not for the other anime figures), RDNA focuses a lot on LaRoo & Koshini, Daz on all the Daz figures (go figure!), and Aiko is real popular here. There are exceptions, but there definitely seems to be a trend.

Anyone else notice? Explanations?

People have their own preferences regarding the sort of pictures they like to make, and the sort of figures they use in those pictures; and maybe those preferences also inform their choice of forum on some level. Once a forum starts to show a trend towards a certain kind of art, then it will be self perpetuating - people will tend to choose that forum if they like that style. I hadn't really noticed it myself, but it also depends on what part of those forums you visit. The galleries may well have a different bias to the advice forums; members often stick to one or the other.

When the Girl first came out there were a lot of renders in the galleries here. (Actually I got a bit sick of them.) I would imagine that Aiko has become more popular than Girl ever was simply because the base download is free. (Certainly I've got Aiko, even though I'm not really into toon/anime figures, because hey, it was free.) As RDNA is the home of both LaRoo and Koshini, it seems natural that there's a lot of interest there.

Didja ever notice the upsurge in the popularity of anime figures in general? I think marketing people noticed the interest in Mayadoll/Animedoll and everybody just started jumping on board with their own versions, not to mention their own marketing strategies. Then along came Laroo and the GIRL, Aiko etc etc.
