As some of you may know, I am taking the NYIP photography course. I was shooting for an assignment and I must submit one photo. Please let me know which of these photos do you like better. #1

is there a particularly thing you were suppose to show in this assignment? tempted to rearrange the shells a bit... ummm but as is.. i like #1~!!!... :] maybe burn the white a bit on that center shell?

#1 is definitely the better of the lot. #4 plays havoc with my eyes with such a minimal DOF. #2 and #3 seem a little washed out.

#1 is definitely my favorite, also because the dark background is almost black, it does not distract as in shot #3. On #4 the blury sand space in the right corner is disturbing, but that is my personal feeling. Hope I could help, Ulf

My gut reaction was #1 before I read the comments, and I am going to stick with that, as well as already mentioned, IMO it has better contrast than the other three.

What was the assignment? DOF study perhaps, so depends what you are trying to acheive.. Perhaps all four to show the different effects of DOF But 1 is the most subjectively pleasing

#1 is my choice, hope this helps!

Thanks everyone #1 was my pick. I guess knowing what the assignment was would help some, but not much. This was a simple assignment as we were only to shoot some object(s) light by side lighting by the sun. The goal of this lesson was to try different lighting angles. (Side, 45 degree, frontal, back) The side lighting was my last to do, and I just couldn't make up my mind. #1 was my choice, but my wife had picked #3. I think I will go with #1.

I'm late on this but here's my 8 pennies nonetheless: I prefer #1 out of the 3 identical pics but out of the all, I think I prefer #4! So pleasing to my eyes! But u already chose so I guess my 8 pennies don't even worth that huh! ;) LOL!
