Subject: exporting dynamic clothes into vue??!! help.............

bodi ( ) posted Thu, 09 June 2005 at 5:49 PM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 6:40 PM

im trying to export a figure from poser 5 or 6 (i have both) say vick3 or the new jess, with dynamic clothes that have been simulated in the cloth room, and look fine. when exported even as a P3 , the clothing pops back to the original "on the hanger look", that is unconformed. when vue "dialogue box pops up am i checking the wrong boxes or something. ive done it before w/out dynamic clothes and thought that i had w/ dynamic but its been a while, i could be wrong...........please help, if at all possible! signed delirious in pasadena :-)

find the timeline in vue and move the slider to the end and hopefully the figure will now be dressed! love esther

Another thing you can do is when the import dialogue box first pops up it ask you if you want to import the entire animation or just a single frame. Click single frame and enter the number of your last frame, the frame that the simlulation stopped at. (30 by default)

yeah i tried both of those things. the weird thing is i save the figure in poser 5 or 6 (vic3 positioned, dynamic skirt & blouse, and chingon hair) everything is fine. frame 1 & 30 are the same position, say sitting. i used clothroom to simulate and everything is great. open vue 6 , import obj. find the p3 file. locate a couple things for vue(i.e. vicbodymaphi , etc) and when it does import it after getting all of the elements, the blouse and skirt return to thier "original" reset form and the hair imports, but vic3 got completely lost in the import somewhere. has anyone successfully imported dynamic clothing? w/ figures wearing the regular conforming clothes there is smooth sailing, but the better my stuff gets in poser the harder it seems to export it properly. (does that make sense?) thanks bodi

Just making sure: You are talking vue 5, right? vue 4 won't do dynamic.

Here is a capture of an animation with hmann's dynamic clothes some 50 frames in. I think I ran into your problem once. You have pz3 files have some bad paths in them. Use wordpad to open the file and edit it. Paths can have two formats either:

:Runtime:Geometries:HMann-Creations:Lacey-Skirt-V3.obj
or
C:Documents And SettingsDougfMy DocumentsSoftwareDataRuntimeGeometrieshairkoz_long_evo.obj

You must change all the entries to match the first style and that probably will clear up the loading problem.

The way I import dynamic clothes into Vue is to spawn a morph target from the clothing when it's the way I want it. Then I delete the cloth simulation, go to the last frame, and set the morph target I just created to 1. Next I do a Memorize all while still at that frame, go to the first frame, and do a Restore all. Then I save the Poser file, making sure I do a Save As and save the file with a different name. When I import the file into Vue the clothing loads without any problems. I've done this numerous times with Vue 4 and Vue 5 and it's always worked for me.

Artalqo, I never thought of that; similar to doing a obj export, but without messing up the materials. Cool.

When using Vue..you have to have Mover, in order to import dynamic hair & cloth. V5I already has it embedded.

i have mover for vue4 but am using vue 5 right now though, im goin to try the wordpad idea. because i dont yet understand the whole morph target thing.........i let you know.

The upgrade to mover 5 from mover 4 is free. or it was the last time I checked, anyway.

bodi; Look on your installation CD for Vue 5 under add-ons I believe it is. In there you will find a Vue 5 specific version of Mover 5, and V5 versions of all the for sale plants at E-on. YOu install Mover 5 and use your Mover 4 liscence code; it should also ask for your Vue 4 reg code, as the Mover code is keyed into the version you bought it for. Any plant codes you have from previous iterations of the plants can be used to install the V5 specific plants.
