Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 24 11:54 pm)
I have the book. You have to download the CD files from Thomson's Course Technology web site, but you can do almost all of the exercises without them. The CD files are mainly the default P6 male. It is a good beginner's book, but not an in-depth manual, so if you're already acquainted with Poser 4-5-6, save your money for something else. Strange terminology abounds: as an example, wacros - which are Poser Python scripts. Also - all screenshots are in a washed-out greyscale - no color illustrations at all, not even a gallery. -scara
I'm glad that it's a beginner's book. The whole poser community is sorely lacking for true beginner tutorials concentrated in ONE place. It's nice to have a book that you can draw from as you need it, without having to take to the internet to search out what you need. Yes, I know Dr. Geep works hard to put out newbie friendly tutorials, but it's still not a book :) I looked long and hard for a true newbie book for Poser 5, and the one that I did find was not released but they were taking advanced orders for it... only to find later that the publisher decided to not go ahead with the book after all.

From the e frontier news letter:
Poser 6 Revealed, the Official Guide
"Poser 6 Revealed, the Official Guide written by Kelly Murdock and published by Thomson Course Technology is an incredible training guide just released to help you ramp up on all things in Poser! This book was written for the new and the average Poser user, but may even teach an old-pro a few tricks. It is well-written and very informative. The book can be found at the e frontier web store under Training Materials.
Sounds like a great book. I wish there had been something like that around when I started in Poser 5, would have saved everyone whom I annoyed some big headaches. lol
