Subject: HELP!!! Does anyone have the 'DANCE STUDIO' PATCH!!!

Colm_Jackson ( ) posted Sat, 10 February 2001 at 12:04 PM · edited Mon, 27 January 2025 at 6:40 AM

Hi, I have just bought a copy of the now 'defunct' Metacreations 'Dance Studio' only to find out that there was a crucial patch for the Poser BVH export function. Of course, nobody supports this program anymore so there is no patch avilable. Does anyone have this patch that could send it to me? My email is colm_j@yahoo.com I would really appreciate this, as this program is useless to me without the patch, as everytime I export a BVH it has zero frames. Many thanks for your time and help in advance. Colm...

Forgot to mention... If anyone wants a copy of this. You can get it from 'Yahoo Shopping' for $8.00 plus S+H...

Thanks Poserpro... Can you let me in on the secret...? LOL I am recording a dance. When I playback the dance in Dance studio it is there. I export the BVH. I then replace all the instances of _ with a space, as per tutorial by Steve Shanks. If I open the BVH in a text editor it is a very small amount of text. It ends with: MOTION Frames: 0 Frame Time: 0.033333 Hmmm... Anymore help greatly appreciated... Colm...

the probelm is in DS I assume you did not render all the necessay frame to get all, P4 CD has a tips on it(jV), Just take out the CD and read again. DS ind eed can export BVH, make sure you have key some dance style for render.

here is what you shall do hit record to the dance mode( VCR, the record) hit the dance style you need in the keys stop and go back play the dance( VCR, the play) seccion > BVH voila replace all "_" with " " in DS>Data>bvh_body.001 this is one time for all.

the exported BVH I just did have 174 frame. and Poser can use.

poserpro ( ) posted Sat, 10 February 2001 at 2:13 PM

use "X axis" and "scale automatically" when import in ppp.

poserpro ( ) posted Sat, 10 February 2001 at 2:16 PM

again, no patch needed.

Thanks for your help JV... I have it all working. I discovered that when exporting to BVH, the dancer has to stay within a certain area or the BVH is empty. This program is great for generating poses too... Thanks again for all your help, Colm...

poserpro ( ) posted Sun, 11 February 2001 at 3:30 AM

you are welcome, glad you did it. DS is one of the few can create BVH by your own will:P

poserpro ( ) posted Sun, 11 February 2001 at 3:48 AM

I don't think the " stay within certain area " just all work for me, only that she/he dances to faster. I add more frame by " resample keyframes "

As I remember, there was a Read-me file on the Poser 4 CD for using BVh files from Dance Studio with some BVH files. You have to change something in an Editor. Look at the file. Niko
