Dear Folks,

It appears that Renderosity is getting slower and slower in responding and sometimes it takes 5-10 minutes to get a response when attempting to post something.

This is unacceptable.

Perhaps it is due to a high (>3K) number of "surfers currently online" but sometimes it is very slow with less than 2K people online.

If this can not be fixed, maybe the tutorials should be posted somewhere else.

I am sorry but ol' Dr Geep is getting on in years and is apparently getting cranky in his old age and is impatient and does not like waiting that long to post something.

You're right doc. For 10 to 15 days, it's slower and slower. Sometimes, it gets 30 to 40 seconds to get a new screen.

Has this issue ever been seriously addressed with Renderosity? As I said in my other post, It's amazing that with all the money this site generates, that they can't afford a server upgrade! Where is 50% of my merchant cut going to?

They can't afford a server upgrade? What in the world are they wasting they're money on if they can't afford a server upgrade. Speed is a must these days if you want to compete with others.

(It's Sunday morning, all I can think about right now is breakfast ;-) Geep, I am sure 99.99% of the Poser community on 'rosity would sorely miss you if you left. That other .01% is NaySayGuy hoping that it will result in a series of tuts written by you on how to use English ;-) Here's to hoping 'rosity speeds up again, and to Geep continuing the magic!

Yes, it is extremely slow and getting worse IMO. At this moment there are said to be 1661 'surfers' and it's taking 30 seconds plus to change pages. Have you noticed that whenever this issue is raised the response from a Rendo admin is conspicuously absent? (Not the forum mods but the boss of all the bosses?)

No, I think Dr Geep SHOULD leave, and I think many more of the other high profile members should leave (very loudly) as well. If all Renderosity cares about is $$$ then lets see how they feel losing some of their top merchants and members. And then, after everything is fixed up and we have a website that is more in line with the 21st century, we will all come back, throw a big welcome home party for Dr Geep and continue with our happy lives!

Hi Karen, Thanks for your brave response. :) But unfortunately I have to respectfully disagree. This latest slowdown is just a symptom to a much larger issue. This site needs a major overhaul. As another member already has mentioned, the software used on this site simply cannot handle the amount of users and the features required to work well. A major upgrade is desperately needed. I think THAT is the issue that needs addressing. Thanks again, Lee

I agree with vilian.

They need to do a purge of the server. There are dozens of boards here, with each having posts going back 5 years. Who needs posts 5 years old?!! They could get rid of the who's online feature. They could purge the galleries of inactive users They could reduce the size limit of images posted to the gallery. They could get change the method of how images are added to posts. Instead of having them uploaded to the server forever like they are, they could make it so that we had to upload them to our own web space. There is a lot of things that can be done to speed up this site. A good purging and a few small changes would help a great deal.

"This is an intermittent issue across the site for about the last week. Admin are aware of it and are working on the problem." I've seem that many times in the past and everytime it's "fixed" nothing changes. It just stays slow. Acutally, I think that is a generic response they sure when they don't have any idea what's going on. No offence to you Karen, but we've all heard that before.

Now Doc, all I have to say on the matter is, you keep your you know what right where it is..no if's , and's or but's about it.. If I can stick it out, you can too.
