Subject: Converting font to 3D?

Desdemmonna ( ) posted Mon, 13 June 2005 at 7:02 AM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 5:10 AM

I needed astrogical signs in 3D for a personal project but couldn't find any in poser, dxf or any other format importable into poser. I have a great font already with the symbols I need but when I tried using the programs PFE and Elefont, the export formats either were not supported by Poser or Bryce or I got an error when trying to import them. Any ideas?

Anim8or has a font extrude feature - it's a free modeller which may be useful for other stuff too. It can export directly in OBJ, which would be best for Poser.

Also, Wings3d is a crossplatform option. It has Adobe Illustrator 8 (AI) import capabilities.

Wct2pov available free at the link can convert text into an object and saves wavefront objects.

If you have Shade...that'll do it :)

Shade allows it? Gosh! Any tut to create font letters and export them as obj files?

I've tried various 3d programs including shade and anim8or. Some of the letters are OK, however letters like R, P etc that "have holes in them" do not import into Poser properly and the holes get filled in. Does anyone know how to stop or get around this. I usully export them to obj.

Daz Studio 4.8 and 4.9beta, Blender 2.78, Sketchup, Poser Pro 2014 Game Dev SR5 on Windows 8 Pro x64. Poser Display Units are inches
