Subject: About the Server speed

I'm sure you guys know there is a major problem going on with the servers. We are literally waiting up to 5mins for pages to load. Hopefully this will be of some help: 1.)The mark all read function always works fast 2.)When selecting a forum from the "Welcome to the forums" page always works fast. 3.)The back function usually works fast The major slowdowns seem to happen once you are inside the forum of your choice. This includes logging on to a bookmarked forum from your browser. It's as if the thread request is running through the entire table to carry out it's request like it's using the search function to call up a thread. On your way into the forums. The server seems to work better. I can't comment on the galleries section. I don't go there. -ScottA

" I'm sure you guys know there is a major problem going on with the servers." I'm sure they do. The point is that no explanation has yet been offered (Stacey did acknowledge the existence of the problem in another thread though). The galleries are OK (so far). Right now things are very slow, but also right now there's a stink (unrelated to forum slowness) going on in the merchant forum -- a thread that's getting LOTS of contributions flying in. Maybe there's a clue there?

I know you guys don't know. That's why I'm giving you specifics. Maybe it'll help you figure it out. Example: It took 2mins. 25seconds for me to load this thread through an E-bot. However as I said earlier. If I were to go to the "Welcome to the forums" page and select the community forum and not any specific thread. It'll pop right up. From what I've seen on my side is it's forum threads specificly being the problem. The software is having no problems finding and logging onto each forum. As long as you don't try to go to any specific thread on that forum. So I thought. If the function of switching from forum to forum is working. But the function of selecting individual threads is not. Maybe that information could be useful in some way. -ScottA

Okay, Tim did some "tweaking" and adjusting so hopefully things will be faster now. Let us know if you still experience the slow site speed. Stacey

That seems to work a bit better to me, thanks. But I still seem to have trouble posting replies. Takes forever and often my browser times out and I have to try again. Every so often it will do it quickly, but usually it takes a long time. BTW, it doesn't matter if I have an image or not. Also I have DSL.

It's no quicker for me - went to look at that thread in Merchant forum and waited 4min 47secs for the Merchant Forum to open.....
