Subject: Hrmm... Kinda quiet in here...

Howdy AradTech... don't mind me, I'm just kind of wandering around trying to explore various forums before leading unsuspecting tour groups through... Is this one new? The only 1 new message caught my eye and I was wondering about the lack of traffic. Especially given the number of images in the photography gallery... I expected this one would be jumping. Anything we can do to help get it rolling and active?

Yes it is kind of quiet in here. Also, it is pretty quiet in the Photography gallery. What's the point of allowing people to make comments and rate images when they never do? Tsk tsk. I'm a very fresh amateur photographer and I'd love to get more constructive criticism on my work, but apart from a few people nobody ever makes any comments or suggestions. Guess people are either too busy or they have nothing to say. I try to add comments where I feel I have something to say..but as I'm brand new, I need to be taught things you know! :-) I've been lurking around in the shadows of this forum for a while, not knowing whether I dare open my mouth (=keyboard) or not. I might not have a lot to say but it's better than nothing. So yeah I'm wondering too...Where is everybody?

Yeah... hate to say this, but we have a combination of a few people who post rude comments, combined with a few people who react badly to criticism, that makes a lot of people leery to comment at all. That makes it tough for those of us who would love the comments - even the critiques - to get comments on our work. I notice that the photography gallery gets a lot of views, but few comments myself. Tell you what, post the link to your gallery here so I can find it when I have more time. I'd love to see your work.

Sure thing! Thanks for showing interest. And I totally need to be critisised (and I misspelt that word I know) as I am a very fresh amateur photographer. The link to my gallery is http://www.renderosity.com/gallery.ez?ByArtist=Yes&Artist=Marshmallowpie I've noticed that a lot of people react badly to negative comments...well...isn't that in a way what we're here for? To share our work with others so they can help us improve? I know I need feedback, and the more constructive the criticism, the better. And for people who might respond badly to negative comments - I never make comments intended to hurt anybody, but I'm not afraid of saying my opinion on things. But hey it's only my opinion, i'm a harmless marshmallow.. What damage could I do? :o) ~M~

That's kind of what I always thought one posted here for - the feedback. After all, if one doesn't want to accept feedback, there's the checkboxes for disabling comments and ratings. What I do know is that this seems to make it tough for people to get any commentary. Thanks, I'll take a browse. I'm afraid that my gallery browsing time i limited... without a links, there's a lot of peoples work I never get to view. I probably can't offer much in the way of commentary - not being a photographer, I have very little technical input to give.

That doesn't matter, thanks for the comments anyway :-) I don't have a very big gallery yet (as I've only been doing photography for a few months) but I hope I'll continue posting here. ~M~
