Hi, here Finally my little project that take me almost 2 months to finish, I rendered everything using Poser6 and all new features:

LDRI with Image Based Lighting
Ambient occlusion
Shadow catcher
Motion Blur
Scattering Light
Subsurface Scattering

I prepared all the scenes as we talk about today so it will be interesting maybe for you to see in little action.

I was thinking it never will be over with one image per hour
but ok... it is exciting to share with you this animation

I created separate scenes and light for every scene, the most difficult was the one with the castle when he is falling down but cool.
I animated everything manually frame by frame :( not always perfect but fine it is my second animation project with Poser6.

I hope you like this animation, please save Target AS to your hard driver then play using RealPlayer
the quality is not 100% but I hope you can see it on the preview still images.

Thanks for viewing!
Hugs!
Cath

Bravo Cath good Animation :D I know 1hour per frame hurts a lot; that's the reason I render almost my anims with Vue Infinite that support network rendering. VueI has also excellent motion blur and dof. Mazak ps. My last project needs only 5-6 minutes per frame with fog, motion blur and dof. If you wish I send you the link.

"I am glad I don't wasted the 2 months here :)" I was wondering what sort of supercomputer you were using, but if it took two months worth of work, it's probably more a matter of super-patience. I really need a second machine to devote soley to 3D. Dean

Dean I use Pentium 4 3.1 GHz 260 GB + Penitum 3 750 MHz I build for myself
but you know the high quality and rendering of the Ambient Occlusion take forever , without AO I was done maybe in 4 weeks.. but as you said, it don't take 24/7 rendering time
most of the time was composing the scene and I did so many and don;t used them too, I was for plan to use also stonehenge but got other things on my head so busy time...

I also learned so many tricks to make it render faster now, the frst weeks was really dramatic because the new features and I did many things wrong.. now I am smarter ;)

OK, so our systems are roughly the same. Thank you for sharing the specs. Now about those tricks to make rendering faster ... :-) Dean

Excellent job !!!! WOW !! Talking about compression : you'll hardly find any better compression than "real". Even the divx codecs are not better, unless you accept to have a much bigger filesize. For those who do not want to use the real player, they can search for "real alternative", a codec that allows you to play real movies with any other player.

Nice demo reel Cath. Very cool. BTW: What ever happened with that project you were thinking about doing a few years ago scanning models and fixing the artifacts by hand? Did you ever find someone to fix those triangle based meshes? Or did that project fall through? -ScottA

I loved the atmospheric effects you used! I'd like to see a good tutorial on atmospherics and animation that shows how you did this!

Cath, if you'll make a hi-res version available using a non-obscure format/codec such as MPEG 1 or 2, Indeo 5x, or hi bandwidth DivX i'll do what i did for the Godzilla video (http://www.changestorm.com/godzilla); convert it to various different formats and put up a mirror. as it stands, I love the WMV version.
