Subject: Apollo Maximus or David...?

I'm kinda in need of a "young-ish" looking male figure, one that aint as "bulky" as Mike tends to be... Been looking at Daz's David and now this new Apollo Maximus figure, and both seem to be able to deliver... So, could anyone out there who have experience with both figures, please post their opinion? How do they compare? Which one should I go for? Thx, Hanz

I'd say David. The more I look at Apollo Maximus the more 'unhuman' shaped I find him. David looks much better for a young-ish" looking male figure imo. Apollo Maximus has very strange body proportions in all of the renders I've seen by now. Strange knees, strange thigh, arms to short, head to big and the look in his eyes (or the way they are shaped) is strange. I'm not saying David is perfect, but he's much more realistically shaped then Apollo Maximus. The only problem with David is lack of content support. He's a bit left out. Then again Apollo Maximus doesn't have any decent clothes at all, we have to see if content creators will start creating stuff for him. When it comes to the price, at the moment Apollo Maximus is much cheaper then David is. You need to buy quite a number of add-ons (body & head morphs & textures) before he will be really useable. That makes David expensive. Apollo Maximus on the other hand can be used for many type of characters (young, child, old and so on). That's the best about him. But I couldn't live with Apollo Maximus's body shape.

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(

Food for thought.....

I got David...and now have Apollo too...see my post above...he can be slight or bulky, young or old....again, right 'out of the box' with no need to buy morphs... the possibilites of his body shapes from what I have seen are nearly limitless!!! I am sure I will use my David (got him for Jeppe's movie men mostly) but gosh...if I had to choose it would be Apollo!

Life Requires Assembly and we all know how THAT goes!

I reckon you should get both. They are both vastly superior to M3.

Apollo, all the way. If you gotta pick one. David is an excellent figure, superior to M3... but apollo is just stunning. As far as his proportions, I'd have to say that is the eye of the beholder. And, Apollo has wonderful shaping tools to change those proportions that David can not match.

I would say Apollo also. I have both. Apollo is different in that there is so much more you can do with him scaling wise, and morph wise. You can bulk him up or trim him down whatever you want. One of the things that I like about him is that in his "body fit" morph he actually has the "V" shape that is a reality for fit body types. If you can only get one, then Apollo...but definately get David also, he is unique also :)

Having had David since he came out and having worked with Apollo quite a bit in the last month I can say without a doubt that the answer would be Apollo. He can be young or old thick or thin. IMHO he is the best that's out there, one figure does it all for adult and young adult male. Its the ease of use factor plus the ability to control him like I never could with any of the DAZ3 version characters. This guy is a big step forward in Poser characters. -jay

If you want less rugged characters, you can definately get 100's of them. Apollo Maximus was designed specifically to do both. In regards to performace/bending see the link.
