Subject: It's a short movie apparently made with Poser!

It looks like Poser4; I could be wrong. Decent if obviously keyframed animations (except for the fight scenes). Some nice effects. Oh, yes, and the requisite nude female Poser figure. Plus some nice dismemberments and gothic themes. Reminiscent of "Blade".

I tried viewing in both Mozilla and IE. I have the current version of Windows Media Player. I click the "watch now", select the player and the speed, and it indicates "loading media" and then skips to "the bad news bears" movie. I click the Raven movie again, and it says "loading media", and then skips to "the bad news bears".

I had the same problem. I was rendering something in Bryce at the time, thought that was the problem. Anyway, most likely they just don't have a version of Raven that runs in Windows Media Player. If you use one of the other ones (I used Real Player), it runs fine (at least it did for me lol).

I enjoy the humor in this guy's work (see link to one of his groups). He posts mostly in Yahoo groups, which you have to join to see the work. I should also say that it's quite 'adult' and wouldn't be to everyone's taste. But there's no violence, gore, or anything like that. He himself describes his work as "Adult (spelled A.D.O.L.E.S.C.E.N.T.)" Poser seems to be great for animating, and I'm looking forward to being able to do that.

I'll have to pass on it then. I prefer Media Player as my default player. Real Player is like a parasite. The last time I installed Real Player it took over file association of everything media and changed all of their icons too. I couldn't get things back the way they were and I ended up having to reformat my computer.

I had the same problems with real player, I didn`t reformat the computer but it still affects loading certain files.

lesbentley ( ) posted Sat, 18 June 2005 at 10:13 AM

Yes, Real Player is crap!

Rance01 ( ) posted Sat, 18 June 2005 at 10:19 AM

All I saw was a bunch of comercials and I don't watch ads so I passed as well. Yahoo sucks, Rance

artistheat ( ) posted Sat, 18 June 2005 at 10:38 AM

go here to download trailer....http://www.daredevilfilms.net/raven/html/trailer.htm That other site kept taking me to bad news bears also..lol..

shinyary2 ( ) posted Sat, 18 June 2005 at 10:47 AM

Odd... And yes, Real player sucks. I use Windows Media Player all the way, whenever I can, but sometimes it just isn't supported. Rance-- Probably not worth it anyway. But you can skip the commercials, just click on one of the other films in the playlist, then after it goes there, click back to the film you want to watch. Gets you right around it neatly, no problem. Interesting thing, I've never had trouble with Real Player. Probably because I haven't updated it in three or four hundred years. Be sure to check out "Art of the Saber". I assume everyone here has already seen kromekat's work in "Star Wars: Revelations". =)

Took a while, but I was finally was able to retain RealPlayer, yet get rid of all of it sneaky insinuations into all aspects of media playback. Last thing to go was that damned Real-Updater app that insisted on loading at every bootup and offering to update and restore everything Id eliminated.

manoloz ( ) posted Sat, 18 June 2005 at 11:37 AM

there is I believe an alternative to Real Player that is called Real Alternative which claims to read the RM files. I just don't remember the download address. I'll look into it.

still hooked to real life and enjoying the siesta!

You can watch both Raven and Raven 2 here as QT if that helps anyone. Raven is 23 minutes, Raven2 is 20 minutes.

Dave-So ( ) posted Sat, 18 June 2005 at 1:50 PM

pretty tiny in QT ... wonder what's up with that ifilms link

Dave-So-- iFilm has that problem sometime. The above link should work in Windows Media Player. Bear through the commercials, it IS worth it! =) One of the best shorts ever made in my opinion, certainly the best Batman short I've ever seen. You should check it out if you've got time.

Peacer ( ) posted Sat, 18 June 2005 at 5:38 PM

Well, since we're on the subject, why not check out my series of shorts (still in production) animated and rendered with Poser 4? Please keep in mind that I am somewhat of a NOOB with 3D animation (or just 3D in general), so don't expect high quality work here. Everything I know has been self-taught, but I am going to school for it this fall.

Anyway, check out my series at: http://noescape.rateofinjury.com and let me know what you think!

Thanks for that newer link. I was able to view the movie in Media Player. I was impressed! I also found myself trying to figure out where the outfits came from, LOL

23 minutes? What I saw was about 90 seconds long from start to finish.

Acadia-- Did you notice that all of the figures are default figures barely morphed (except for the demons of course), and the hair is all also default? LOL!!!! Dave-So-- Batman: Dead End is one of my favorites, along with Art of the Saber and of course Star Wars: Revelations. Peacer-- Dude! (looks at you oddly) You seriously need to find some voice actors. But the animation is quite great (much better than Raven, lol). Man, that must have taken a while. But I've seen all three of them and I'm still confused. Am I supposed to still be confused or did I miss something? Just checkin' =)

Peacer ( ) posted Sun, 19 June 2005 at 12:07 AM

lol, whether or not you're "supposed" to be confused is all up in the air. It either clicks or it doesn't, but about 95% of the population will be confused because the story is still trying to figure itself out. The later episodes reveal or heavily imply everything, so don't worry :)
