Subject: Any recommendations for online camera shops in the UK?

Wivelrod ( ) posted Fri, 17 June 2005 at 9:49 AM · edited Wed, 27 November 2024 at 11:21 PM

I've used in the past www.cameraworld.co.uk and www.warehouseexpress.com. Neither always have what I want, and warehouse express takes weeks to get stock (though that may not be unusual...perhaps I'm just too demanding :P ). Any of the brits here have other recommendations? Or any warnings about UK sites that you've been burnt by? Specifically I'm looking for the Canon Angle Finder from a specialist. I have found it on Amazon.co.uk, a long delivery though - but it's my fall back plan. On a similar tangent...is it me or is there a shortage of independant camera shops now? I remember there used to be a great shop in my home town where they had lenses on display! Thats been swallowed up by Jessops where you're lucky if they have even the most basic of SLR lens in stock :(

Here's one! Dunno if they're good or not though! But the prices seem competitive enough! ;) Hope this helps a 'lil!

this is not what you asked for but, http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ has the Canon Angle Finder in stock and I think shipping is $27.00. They have 3 day shipping but it's $$$. I recomend them highly. It's the only photo store I purchase from. Of course I'm a Yank:}

Cheers for those. I'm aware of B & H - I'm also aware of the ludicrous custom charges "Her Majesties Customs and Excise" will charge me daring to import something from outside the UK (though I'd definately use them for buying things I couldn't find anywhere else :) ).

I use 7 day shop for some things and have found them to be very good. Or find what you want print it out and take it to Jessops and ask for a price match. They will on most things.

The Truth is Out There

Oh, 7 day shop... they seem to have things in stock...!! I'll definately give them a go on my next order. Thanks :)

Bit late getting in on this one, but I swear I've never had anything but good experiences from Jessops, whether it be online or in their stores. Worth checking out, imho. (",)
