Well, I had to test my own freebees and see if it was possible to get a somewhat usable picture out of it. I think the problem area in this pic is the scale of it. It is an enourmous city, but I'm not sure if I have got that enough out in the open. Tryed to give a feeling of scale by pulling some small ships close to the camera and move them further out over the city. And some much larger ships as well. Maybe more haze? I dont know. Guess I have worked to long with it and have gone blind for the obviouse. Bigger size in the gallery. All models by me.

At first I thought I was looking at war zone...lol Great stuff! I'd change the sky though and add more colour to the buildings...0.02p

Did you try darker sky, and bryce default city mat. on the buildings. The composition is great :)

The sky is a hemispheric dome with a sky texture at 5000x1250. All light comes from a light dome with 250 lights. All textures are 1024x1024 pictures with a sci-fi texture. No Bryce mat's. And the rest can be seen in the preview. It took about 13 hours to render at 1280x500.

Aye, and just over 3M polys! Not bad, I would have guessed several times that number... I think it's a bit cluttered-looking, and the POV could really add to some drama. But the SCENE is great. Perhaps attack it again later, after you flex in some other areas for awhile? I like the picture, too! I'm with Bryster on more color and variation in the building materials... But the sky is just amazing! As is your wonderful modeling, of course... Keep it up!

hmm..I tried the Discombobulator on a grid in Blender, exported to Wings, did some texture work. Blender's actually good for one thing now..;)
I'm considering seeing if the altitude (y axis) can be lowered to get a more subtle greeble/nurny effect. Just a thought..

pakled, What's your Discombobulator? I find an axe works quite well, gg But what does yours do?
