These fans in costumes are the main reason to go to conventions in my humble opinion. You can see such crazy stuff. It takes a special someone to dress up like Speed Racer, gotta give him that! :) Time to go look, thanks for posting a link to your photos.

Speeeeeeeed! Speeeeeed! hahaha ... at 4, I thought Speed Racer was the coolest guy who ever lived. At 5, I realized since Racer X was always bashing him over the skull with a wrench, he must have been the coolest guy who ever lived. At 6, I realized they all wore little scarves around their necks and no man who wore a scarf around his neck could be the coolest (see Scooby Doo; sub-heading Freddy). I love the fact he gave you "the pose". Bahaha ... now that theme song is stuck in my head. But anyway, enough rambling. This is one reason I love costume events. Almost everyone in costume would love to have their photo taken. Takes a lot of pressure off of asking strangers can you photograph them. -=>Donald
He's got the shirt and gloves and the pants but something about those 60 loafers is missing not to mention the RED socks. TIBET Speed Racer - ACA Super Mach Go Go was a popular Japanese cartoon release into the "States" in about 1960's. It featured a family who's life revolved around racing. The main character was SPEED RACER. I loved that show as a child and now through the magic of DVD's you can get the collection!!! Here is the official web site. http://www.speedracer.com/ Bsteph
LOL! I remember the theme song, but don't think I watched it all that much.... HR Puffin Stuff was more my thing....

Who wouldn't want a car that had all those cool options Retracting Buzz saw Automatic tire spikes (for snow and ice) hydraulic jacks (so it could jump over stuff) Turns into a submarine and lastly...that one button...that couldn't be touched...but always was... the AMAZING robotic homing pigeon thingy! (USed When Speed was in danger...which was ever freakin episode!) @ Chelle - I remember HR Puffin on some stuff alright! (LOL)That show WAS pretty TRIPPY! That and them damn BUGALOOS! (there here & there & everywhere!) ahhhhh!
I so want to try some event photography now. These look like fun. So....this week we have Tall Ships coming to Victoria. Then a Jazz festival...and sometime down the road a Gay Pride Parade(never been to one ,but bet costumes would be different).

Put up a gallery of photos taken at the AnimeNext convention from this weekend. (if you're interested!) This was a great experience for taking pix of people in general! Most were more the willing to pose for the camera. Some of the costumes were really cool! Here's one...the ONLY Speed Racer at the event! Everyone was taking shot of him! Go Speed Racer GO!!!! I must say, I learned alot! When you're at an event like this..its NOT the time to fiddle with you camera settings! (or you may lose the shot!)I mainly used Shutter Priority and Program Modes! Another thing, I need to invest in a external flash for better indoor shots! L8r! Joe
