Subject: some advice, please, on buying a camera

Nevanna ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 5:56 PM ยท edited Wed, 06 November 2024 at 1:18 PM

I'm fairly new to photography in general, so I thought I would ask for some advice. :) I want to buy a digital camera--fairly quick shutter speed, decent picture quality. Mostly I am interested in being able to take nice pictures for use as digital textures--say, with Bryce. Also for use with reference shots. I'm not looking to spend a whole lot of money, although I would like a camera where I can exchange the types of lenses used. Is it possible to get something like that--say, used, maybe on keh.com, without spending a fortune? And, if so, any suggestions? Thanks! :) Nevanna

The DSLR cameras that allow lens changes are a bit pricey. Most digital cameras are good for Bryce textures. You just have to get one with macro capability too. On the link cynlee provided you will find ample resources aiding a purchase.Glad you stopped by.

The dimage Z5 has a supermacro feature so you can get 1 CM close.

Question the question. Answer the question. Question the answer...

I wish I knew what I was gonna say :oP

But the Dimage Z5 is not a SLR! ;) And she says that she wants to buy a SLR which is a great idea if u ask me cos if she becomes hooked to photography she will regret not having bought a SLR in the first place! I know I do! :(

I just bought a Canon Rebel XT. From what I gather, it is one of the hotest cameras going and you can add all the lenses you want. From the reviews, it seems to have the best quality pictures going. You can check out a good review at http://www.dpreview.com/. I found the body on the net for $600.00. Great value, most prices are around 800-1000.
