THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Be part of the 2nd DVD in the "Learn Bryce Series"

brycetech ( ) posted Wed, 22 June 2005 at 10:12 PM · edited Sun, 10 November 2024 at 1:08 PM

Hi all Its time again to ask for gallery submissions the upcoming 2nd DVD in the "Learn Bryce Series" For this one, to help things along a bit... the image MUST be in 4:3 ratio ...preferably 720 x 480 pixels...larger will have to be resized to fit the dvd format to the above mentioned size. This DVD will deal with advanced techniques in Bryce..and with that in mind will have an "advanced" users gallery. I may have a secondary gallery (but I doubt I'll have the space) for others. So this one, unlike the first DVD will not be one where I put at least one from all that I get on the disk. Please send an email to " brycetech@daz3d.com " with: direct links to your images you would like to have considered for the gallery your REAL name and the desired email address This is a chance to get thousands of people to see your bryce images....perhaps your image will inspire the next great brycer to give it a shot. You will get total credit for your image, in both the gallery and the final credits for the DVD. I will send you an email letting you know the status of what you send. So please, PLEASE send only the link to your BEST images (..not your entire gallery). I'd also love animations if you have any that use advanced bryce animation methods.

erm... 4:3 and 720x480 aren't the same are they? (640x480 would be 4:3)

Hmmmmmmm... I wonder If I will be able to use what I am doing for a film as an animation...... Hmmmmmmm...Have to check...

martindj ( ) posted Thu, 23 June 2005 at 3:33 AM

How can 4:3 ratio be 720X480 pixels? Seems to be 3:2! PS:I'm still trying to find the time to learn from your first DVD. Thanks.

aeilkema ( ) posted Thu, 23 June 2005 at 7:48 AM

"You will get total credit for your image, in both the gallery and the final credits for the DVD" And you're getting all of the money from the sales of the DVD?

aeilkema ( ) posted Thu, 23 June 2005 at 8:15 AM

Nothing at all, you get credit. There will be enough fools submitting there work, so they can get away with schemes like these. It's clear that even the BEST images are worth nothing at all to DAZ. I've been a part of similair projects like these in past and from my experience getting credit alone doesn't do much good.

draculaz ( ) posted Thu, 23 June 2005 at 8:25 AM

well, it's the credit and the exposure, i think you're being a bit unfair, aeilkema.. but all the same, the question does rise. if this wasn't brycetech and instead it was some other guy coming here and saying "hi, i represent these guys who are gonna make profit off some tutorials of mine as well as some other works, wouldn't you like to contribute for free so we can make that money?" we'd hound him out of the forum. drac

Agreed Drac, BT is a staple in Bryce History & probably one of the reasons most of us are here now.

sure. i won't say any more on the subject though. drac

cambert ( ) posted Thu, 23 June 2005 at 9:52 AM

Considering the amount that BT has contributed to the Brycing skills of all of us, let alone the Bryce community in general, I think most people would be happy and flattered to contribute to one of his projects.

foleypro ( ) posted Thu, 23 June 2005 at 11:21 AM

Anyone could do the same thing if you wanted... Just ask the community they will say the same thing... David has been around a long time in the Bryce Community fighting for Bryce tooth and Nail...I would be Honored...

I would feel incredibly honored if one of my works was on a Brycetech DVD. How much is anyone being paid for their images in the galleries here? Put em on the DVD and get more exposure. You can complain about the lack of pay for your images, but you never know who will see the DVD. (aside from all the big wigs at DAZ).

I make NIL on the gallery... the money is made on the tutorials. The DVD gallery is there for exposure to bryce artists and hopefully to inspire. and this is me..brycetech..not DAZ. DAZ has no say in this dvd. I have the messages emailed to that daz email so I can keep them better organized from my yahoo one. Anyhow, I make it and they sell it (or 3dcommune..or whomever I market it thru) Its NO different that the images in REAL WORLD BRYCE insert number here ...artists contributed for exposure, fun, and just for the heck of it. I dont even know if anyone got any money from the "Traveler" movie made with Bryce2. I make almost NIL on the dvd...even now, with all that have sold...Ive made about 2.50 PER HOUR making the first one...lol So yeah..I'm getting rich I'd be happy to explain the math on this if you really want to hear it. I have to wonder why this board ALWAYS has someone come in with negativity when this is just a simple project and chance to show your work to people who will actually SEE it and attach your name to the image. If you dont want to submit..or be part then fine, don't... but I hope that there are those of you who will happily help inspire the next generation of Brycers so that new versions will be both bought and created. Well said BT. You know I'm thinking of working on a product called the A.N.B.S (Anti Negativity Bryce System), now there's something that'd have to be a freebie ;-)

Best of luck with your DVD and it's promotion.

Why so strict on the aspect ratio. If I have any you like I will add a border to get it to the proper aspect ratio. Considering that there are DVD's in letterbox format etc. I won't second the negtivity. I know Bryce overall is not a program for anyone who wants to make cash off of 3D anyways. Most of those who do off Bryce are actually making it off of a seperate modeler.

BryceTech, dont be taken-aback by this line of questioning. You know it always happens whether its this forum or any other forum. You can go back historically to several other similar offers within this community and others and see that these questions always arise, so its nothing new. In fact, I think its healthy because firstly, it places stock and value on personal artistic works and secondly, it allows for us to discuss at length the ramifications of your offer and places it in its proper perspective that for the most part, it is usually, unpublished, unrecognized gifted artists who get a chance on an international level to get exposure for their work. In the long run, exposing new artists to perspective clients and opportunities on a worldwide scale. If nothing else, true recognition among fellow artists internationally, in a word EXPOSURE! If you feel that the offer is beneath you and is intended to exploit your artistic skills, by all means, dont feel forced to contribute!

brycetech ( ) posted Thu, 23 June 2005 at 8:35 PM

Ive already gotten great response to the posts for the gallery. One of my favorite parts about doing this series is seeing art that I have not had the time or opportunity to see. It helps me remember why bryce has such a following...its just powerful and in the right hands, it makes things that STILL make me go gah Its also very cool showing the gallery to people who havent seen it and then later have them say something about a specific image and then saying the artist's name. :) and yes, I posted the wrong aspect...but the pixels needs to be 720 x 480 (Because thats dvd spec..not mine :)) Cool borders are always fine..in fact, for the first one..I added some for those that were a bit too small. Larger images will have to be resized to fit..I dont think that panning over a large image would do it justice...but I can try it and get a little feedback on what people think. fwiw..all the money that I have made on the first dvd thus far + a whole heck of a lot more is ALREADY bookmarked for this one. It costs ~$2000 just to replicate them, it costs hundreds just to ship them to whomever distributes them... + I need another harddrive as a backup, additional models, additional programs, etc. This is MY money, that I spend..no one else. I spent nearly $5000 on the first one..and yes, that was MY money too...and lets not forget that when the end of the year comes, I have to pay taxes on all this, even tho its all right back in the next DVD...so I will lose my ass on this DVD series! But I spent thousands on brycetech.com along with thousands of hours putting it together and since I no longer own bt.com, this is my way of keeping things alive (besides its fun :)) It just gets under my skin when people dont know the whole story or they jump to conclusions. I want to see a powerful Bryce 6..and the only way we will see that is if people use and buy bryce 5.5. The only way that will happen is if they can use the programs and those that know how inspire them to...thus the user gallery. sigh anyhow, thanx for the great response! :) BT

BT: Can I send you the pic as an attachment?

brycetech ( ) posted Thu, 23 June 2005 at 9:59 PM

you could just upload it here in the gallery :) If you dont have a page..no zips tho but jpgs would be ok. :) BT

Alas it is sad state when a Person actually has to come out and say they are Taking it in the shorts... Sir,you are a True Brycer....

Swade ( ) posted Fri, 24 June 2005 at 7:25 AM

My hat's off to ya BT... This is an excellent, selfless project if they don't want to. I think if you can make any money off these DVD's.....MORE POWER TO YA!!!

Nobody had/has to contribute their art for this project. Those of us that have made our art available to you have done it willingly and with no expectation of any monetary gain. I hope you can make a bunch off this series...whether any of my art is included or not.

I told you before and say it again... you are more than welcome to use any of the images I have in my gallery for any of these DVD's you are doing.... I meant that! I don't expect anything in return.... only to have credit for my image. 8)

Good luck with this DVD.

Let me say, brycetech opened my eyes to the detailed world of Bryce via his tutorials. Money is important in the'REAL'world, heck I'm still using bryce 5! but I'm sure not a few would agree with me when I say the reason we bought bryce(and stuck with it)wasn't primarily because of the cash...I gave up creating pictures for cash a long time ago and decided to inspire people as best as I can. Call me stupid, but I have seen results. Anyways, let's not drift. You're free to use any of my Images fer free BT.(Kinda like a 'thank you' for your tutoring. But should you need something specific, holler at me.I'm making a game, online comic series,my regular daily uploads and a CGI movie based on all these. So,if I could start this madness, surely you could! After all,you are my sensei. (ps; please Include my name in the credz should you choose to use any of the Fo3's work)
