First off - hey all, I'm new here. I found my way over from the Bryce forum on delphi, I figured more input is better, so there may be some repeat posting, hope you don't mind. Here's the last pic i was working on a couple months ago, let me know what you think. I don't really know if I'm done or not...

Those are great jellyfish griffinfang - I tried to model one one time and the mesh was so large when I brought it into Bryce I was never able to do anything with it! :D Jade

I made these with the demo of Rhino 3d, but unfortunately, I have run out of saves, so i guess i need to buy the full version while I'm still a student and it's cheap. That's next on my list of things to buy after I get my IRA started (turns out those things can be a bit pricey to start). Anyway, thanks for the quick reply! Me too Paul! I'm jade_nyc at Delphi and 3D Commune too- you can call me Janet. Rhino is a great program but unfortunately I'm not a student and can't afford it :( And you're very wise for starting your IRA first and then worrying about software! Janet

very nicely lit and the water atmosphere is very good...love the light rays and I agree, those jellyfish are very good models too...you should put them somewhere for download nitpicks would be the jellyfish texture..but thats minor BT

Now that I have a (much) faster computer, maybe it won't take three days to re-render changes anymore. fingers crossed As far as putting the model up for download, I'll have to hunt it down on my HD, but I'll try to do that soon.

I'm also a Delphi Bryce forum reg: ) and I've got the same nickname and am also a student, LoL, yes the discount software is one of the best things about being a student. There was a thread over in C&D about an app on ZDNet. Not sure of it's performance or quality, but it's free.. so.. Also, in this month's 3D World (on the CD) is a copy of AMAPI 3D ver 4.1. So that is another "freebe". There is also an upgrade offer to their latest (and the reason for the giveaway) to the latest version, discounted, if you have the mag. Got it, thanks for the heads up! I've also downloaded the free version of strata 3d, but I haven't had time to screw around with it yet. It looks pretty powerful as well, so we'll se how it goes. So far, for pure, unadulterated modeling power, I love Rhino...I must have it. Man, I really need to subscribe to 3d world, they're always giving stuff away... -Paul

yes they are.. the problem with them is two fold.. 1) it's published in England. So .. delivery is a little slow. 2) Cost around $90 a year.. ouch.

I believe IRA (in the context I mean it) stands for Individual Retirement Account. It's a way to put aside money now that you can pull out of the account later, tax free (since the money you put in has already been taxed). You can't pull the money out of the account until you turn 59 (i think), but in the meantime, you're allowed to use it to buy stock or mutual funds or myriad other similar investments. Hopefully, all of this will mean that I can retire a rich man someday, and devote all my time to my new copy of Bryce 12, and maybe doing a lot more sailing than I get to do now :)
