Well, I have some good news,and bad. First the Good
.
I received an E-mail last week from a art firm in Florida last week wanting exclusive rights to any past or future works. They offered a cash payment upfront and percentage of sales of all materials marketed. I thought this was a true Internet scheme and deleted their E-mail. Then, three days ago, I got a phone call and the offer was real.

The bad news means I can no longer post any works to any internet gallery under terms of the agreement.

In the next few days, I will clean out any posting from my gallery as required and go to work for my new bosses.

But before I go, I want to thank several people and make a comment.

To Phoul for his inspiration to learn VUE; to Kenwas for his kind comments on my "good work" and constructive comments on the bad; to Wabe and IQ2000 for their critisism and helpful comments; to Djeser who I got off on the wrong foot with cause I said I didn't like fairies(but after looking at her work, I learned to love them as most do); and a special thanks to LadyLisa and Irish for never failing to comment on my works, good or bad.
A special thank you to Rodluc2001 for his wonderful castle models which I, an many others, have used countless times.

Lastly to Agiel who is a super moderator of this forum.

In closing, this is like a dream come true which would not have been possible without the help and encouragement of so many in the Vue community. My wish is that all of may receive the same good fortune as I.

An lastly, if you never get a work into the so called "top 20" of the Vue section, don't fret about it. I was able to have only three of my works rated that high. Art is in the eye of the beholder. What some may regard as simple, others may find wonderful. Just practice and learn from some of the great people here.

So, deepest thanks to all of you and my apology if I missed someone. I will still be reading the forums, and rating the works in the Vue and Maya galleries so it's not like I am gone forever. Thank you E-On for great software and may you all realize your greatest potential..

Sounds like great news ! (not you leaving of course :) ) Thanks for the comment, it means a lot to me. Just be careful with exclusivity contracts though. Make sure you get a lawyer to check the terms of the contract beforehand so you won't have to regret it later on.

Yeah, i can underline every word from Agiel. And again, be careful with exclusively contracts, let it be checked first. Think carefullly.

Best of luck to you, Xiores! It's been a pleasure meeting you and enjoying your images. I would be very wary of an exclusivity contract, as agiel, Walther, and Luca mentioned. If you haven't seen a lawyer specializing in contract law already, I strongly recommend you do so asap to protect yourself.

That is awesome news. I to have to advise you to be careful. Don't give up the rights to anything. I'm a writer, and have ebooks published. I have a contract with them, but I still own my work. It expires I have my work to take with me. Might be different depending on the art you're going to be doing. I do book covers as well. Those I haven't really worried about 'owning' useless to me other than for promotional stuff. Anyway, don't want to rain on your parade, you've got every right to be proud of the fact these people came to you. Just don't want to see one of our own hurt by some jerks that live off of people's dreams. That said, knock em dead.

It took me a while to remember where I saw this recently : that was a great documentary about the iography of Frank Frazetta where he said that the best thig he ever did i his life, was to fight hard to license his work to publishers while retainig ownership of the original paitings. Now that he is a great master of fatasy art (and certainly of art alone), his paintigs are worth hundred of thousands of dollars, and counting. It is always great to be recognized - don't let us take away that thrill from you. Just remember to be fully prepared for the consequences of giving up owership of your work.

They are buying rights to market only. I retain full rights to the work unless I wish to sell the rights to any particular work.
This company does a good bit of marketing in artwork to businesses that furnish their clients new buildings with artwork like banks, commerical malls, etc. It is only a one year contract and they market any piece they want.

I am paid a sign on bonus, and a per piece price of any artwork produced and sold, plus a monthly fee to produce 2 works of their chosing per month (normally landscapes).
It's my understanding that their clients choose the artwork from a catalog of pieces during construction phases and they then frame and produce it on canvas.

This catalog contains mine and others work in abstract,
landscape, photography, and other forms.I have been told 5 of my original works will be in their fall catalog,with "slip-ins' used until then.

They retain exclusive marketing and publishing rights for the year. After that, it's a new contract if both parties agree. I am not allowed to publish or print any piece without their permission for the period involved.

Thats about it in a nutshell. As I said, I'm not leaving this forum or site as it always contains great tips and advice and I enjoy it immensely. Thanks to all for all your help, tips, critisism, and encouragement and I

One things for sure...people DO look at your artwork on this site so post it!

Past works OK, but future works, be very carefull with that! Make sure there's an escape clausule in the contract. Like if payment ar down to a certain amount, the contract can be cancelled. Go with a contract that can be cancelled on a certain date each year by either party. You really need to be very carefull with a contract for future stuff. You may end up working very hard for hardly any returns at all.
