Subject: Pure 3D Gallery

cake1 ( ) posted Tue, 13 February 2001 at 7:15 AM · edited Wed, 22 January 2025 at 8:35 PM

Hi I usually spend more time in the Poser Gallery, and i have to say, there is amazing works there. Some masterpieces are done with a poser base, a bit of bryce, and maybe painter and (or) photoshop post work, and most of the time, the mix of this apps is truely remarquable. However, i think it would be interesting to have also a gallery of Pure 3D. I mean, the apps used would not matter (poser, bryce, lightwave or whatever), BUT the images wouldnt be touched AT ALL after the render. The purpose of that would be to have pure 3D material who could be use in a 3d app, who could have differents points of view of the same scene or character. I mean a Pure 3D image who could have a life of its own, and would'nt depend on a fake hair, or painted clothe (even if i think these techniques gives extraordinary results ;o) I don't know if i'm really clear on this (sorry for my english) Please, Tell me what you think of this idea. Thanks.

Interesting idea. But does it warrant a separate gallery? What do others think?

I suspect it would exclude too many talented artists who rely on post-processing. It's not a bad idea maybe if we were to create two small Public Access galleries, one exclusively for 3D and one for Others, that didn't allow comments or ratings, just showed off art samples and didn't require membership to view, this might work, but otherwise, I suspect it would be too restricting. Just my 1/50th of a buck.

But CB, the galleries ARE open to the public.

Oops. Keep getting the sites confused on that regard, Russell! Rules seem to change about that CONSTANTLY... :-)

The idea was one more gallery, without changing anything for the existing gallerys... There is a 2D gallery, for a lot of programs. Why can't it be a 3D gallery for a lot of programs, with the only limit: no post work. The artist could still post their work on the poser gallery (or bryce, or whatever) too, and even postwork them for theese gallerys, but they would post it 'untouched" at the 3d gallery... But there would be no exclusion of any kind, it would be a gallery with the same caracteristics as any other

when I browse the galleries usually the artist will say -o post work- or something if its pure 3D.

Yeah, I agree. Those who want us to know that it was done with no post work, usually are quite proud of that and do let us know.

So maybe a search on key words "No Post Work" or an equivalent would produce just what cake1 is looking for? If it's that "easy" I guess creating a "pure 3D" gallery would be as simple as adding another search button then?

Alot of the work I see here is all true 3d with no post work at all. But there are times when you reach the limitations of poser figures poseing, where there are rips at the seems and joints separating and a little photoshop is truly needed. Not to add more realism but to correct for the deficencies of the progam. And that I think is a good thing. Besides Once the image is rendered it is 2 dimensional not 3 anyway right folks. The only 3d is in the creation of the object before rendering. Just a thought and excuse my bad spelling lol. Besides another gallery just for non post work would have me jumping back and forth way too much hehehe.

I'm posting here mostly for the ebots. I'm afraid that I'm in the post work on evrthing I do category - even if it's just resizing and running a sharpen filter and a bit or airbrush/smudge work to clean up the places where conforming clothing doesn't quite conform. To me it's still 3D art, even if I do everything I can to make it look like an acrylic painting by the time I'm done.
