Subject: What do you think of the technology behind WW and Clothes Converter?

What do you think of the technology behind Wardrobe Wizard and Clothes converter? Is this the end for Clothes Converter or can Marc incorporate some of the ideas behind WW into his product? The Cool thing about Clothes converter is that it can preserve the clothing morphs easily. I have only used the Demo for WW and it already has blown me away simply amazing.

That's what I think :)

First Wardobe wizard uses posers native scripting abilities allowing it to be cross platform MAC/PC wardobe wizard is cheaper to buy and everything is done within poser without having to fire up another application. Dont know much about MarkDC's Converter since im on the mac plarform but as ive stated before WW is the most signifigant breakthrough since conforming clothing. and will be a boon for clothing merchants since it expands the usability of their products and should generate more sales.

I would think that the developer of Clothes Converter can incorporate the extra functionality of Wardrobe Wizard into Clothes Converter. I think, however, what he does will come down more to a business decision than an ability decision. He isn't just going to upgrade Clothes Converter to the functionality of Wardrobe Wizard as a free favor to current Clothes Converter owners (I would guess, anway- I wouldn't want to discourage him from such a free upgrade). But he'd have to go one up on Wardrobe Wizard, in terms of even more functionality, or in competitive pricing.

While both programs do the same, they do it very differently. Sure, WW has the better autoconvert, but what do you do if the figure you want the clothing for isn't supported? CC has the tools for you to do it on your own...

ScottA ( ) posted Mon, 27 June 2005 at 1:19 PM

I don't use clothing programs because I don't use human figures. I use my own models in Poser. From what I can tell from the conversations is that WW just uses technology already existing inside Poser. The fact that the figures have to be hard coded into the program leads me to believe that for the JP part of the conversion. The script goes through the base model's .cr2 file and logs the start point, end point, and handle locations of each body part's JP. Then loads those settings into the clothing being converted. As far as the morph transferring goes. That one I'm not so clear on. But I would imagine it's something similar to the JP transfer. Only using the geometries point locations inside the .obj files. Just guessing. It's a clever twist to the cut and paste operation. You can do the same thing by hand if you're a nerd like me ;-). But they packaged it in a way that's quick and easy to use for the less techy types. And I like that. I've always been a fan of getting results first. Then go back (if you feel like it) and learn why things work. Not the other way around. -ScottA

What is really great is that it save its analysis files of every clothing piece you have
Converted from.
so when ever you want to convert that piece to a different supported character
you just load the character and the clothing and hit the "convert to" button and watch as a series of fast moving magnets appear and encase the clothing and wrap it around your target figure.

after magnet vanish you conform the clothing as usual.
and you have a wide variety of custom fitting and tailoring, and smoothing options for an optimum fit
these are all buttons in the WW python menu.
the real beauty of it is that
it wraps this clothing around any heavily morphed figure.
so you can now take old Dork possette, M1 v1 M2 V2 clothing
and refit it to voluptuous , fat or heavliy muscled up male figures like the freak
etc..you can also take those awesome sci fi full body suits for V3 by "uzilte" and refit them to a bulked up M2 as i did this weekend.

I prefer V2 and M2 because i despise morph injection.
now however all of the vast V3 and M3 clothing content
can be utilized by me for my preffered figures.

its a win win all around :-)

Actually CC2 is cheaper then WW currently. Also a big difference is that CC2 will handle gloves, WW won't. Also CC2 will handle multiple files/characters through a batch process.

isacatcar1 ( ) posted Mon, 27 June 2005 at 2:34 PM

So do you all think that WW has eliminated the need for Clothes converter?

isacatcar1 ( ) posted Mon, 27 June 2005 at 2:38 PM

Also it is my understanding that Clothes converter Will only auto convert V3 clothing to other figures, but you cant convert from say A3 to V3 or SP3.

MaryK ( ) posted Mon, 27 June 2005 at 2:47 PM

No. CC will auto convert from one Millenium 3 to another Millenium 3. So it'll work on any combnination of Luke, Laura, Matt, Maddie, M3, V3, SP, A3, Hiro, etc. It will also autoconvert Dodger's Aeon line since they're based on Mil3 products. It will not autoconvert on anything below, so you have to do it by hand on V2/M2/Kids/P4, etc.

here are some examples of what my son did using Clothes Coverter 2.2 Laura's catsuit converted to Anna/V3 (yes, I know about the nipples (rolls eyes)

isacatcar1 ( ) posted Mon, 27 June 2005 at 2:51 PM

I tried converting an aiko3 outfit to V3 from Rdna the Light Mage and I got an error (the auto convert feature will only work with) I cant remeber the rest of it. I was using CC version 2.2

isacatcar1 ( ) posted Mon, 27 June 2005 at 3:09 PM

MaryK and you did all of this with the Auto convert wow. Have you done any A3 to V3?

MaryK ( ) posted Mon, 27 June 2005 at 3:17 PM

Only have the base figure for A3, no clothes. May see if I can find some freebies and try it. Either way I have CC and WW both, and both are good for things. For example, Dave 71's Kids closet @ Runtime. I can take the Preteen Vicki clothes through WW and convert them to Laura or V3, then run them through CC2 and autoconvert them to Anna/Mary. Both are worth the money and both get my support if asked.

For the WW can it be used with a figure that has the Wyrmmaster magnets on it?

HandyGM ( ) posted Mon, 27 June 2005 at 6:07 PM

Yes, it can handle magnets, no problem.

xantor ( ) posted Mon, 27 June 2005 at 8:54 PM

I tried the demo of clothes converter and found it quite difficult to use, the demo of wardrobe wizard worked almost automatically.

rdf ( ) posted Mon, 27 June 2005 at 10:01 PM

i am under the impression you still have to manually fit the clothing (using magnets or whatever) onto the desired figure before converting it with WW. is that right?

MaryK ( ) posted Mon, 27 June 2005 at 10:09 PM

you load the clothing item load the figure it's originaly from click on the convert from WW will save a .dat file so you only have to do that once per clothing item. Load the figure you want to convert the figure to click Convert To play with some options to smooth and fix some edges.

I haven't tried yet, but I was just wondering if anyone's done anything for SheFreak? bonni

I have a question.

Can the Aiko3 and Hiro3 Bodysuits be converted to other characters? With full options, especially the mask, gloves and hood?
Either Wardrobe Wizard or Clothes Converter, please let me know.

I belive people on PoserPros have gotten objects to work with SheFreak. Wardrobe Wizard will not handle gloves, Clothes Converter can.

Francemi ( ) posted Tue, 28 June 2005 at 11:25 AM

She Freak requires V3 object file so my guess is... you could convert TO She Freak the same way you can convert to any other morphed character for V3. Wardrobe Wizard. France
