Hi,
I just Dloaded Facegen 3.1 from www.facegen.com
Its a program that lets you generate faces from pics LOL quickly and with darn good results. Oh well! I know all you modellers out there want a higher res head but hey, the heads a pretty ok and can be exported to your native app. So, what do you think about this program, worth the cash (Well, actually I was thinking I would recommend it to my art school software library, duuno if its good enough)
Can someone plz dload the trial and give me a quick review
Thanks. And yes, any website to dload front / side profiles of celebs for free. Free is the keyword here. Plz provide links

I've never used facegen. However, isn't it the same technology the face room is based on in poser? I think I remember seeing that somewhere. I thought about getting it, but figured I could better spend the cash on props, and wardrobe wizard, and just use the face room for what I want. As far as the headshots of celebs, good luck. I spent days a few weeks ago looking for decent celeb headshots. If you are lucky, you will find a good side profile, or a good front angle. Finding both is near impossible. I even rifled through magazines like Maxim, Stuff, and FHM. Not much luck there. Once in a blue moon you can find one or the other, but in all my searches, I found a decent pair for Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Garner, and Kiera Knightly. And when I say decent, I mean barely that. The only place I have seen that has good shots to work from is http://www.3d.sk but the images aren't free, and they aren't celebs. If you find anywhere yourself, I would love to hear about it!

Check out this group. It's a group devoted to making "digital clones" of celebrities. (Because that way, everyone knows how close you got.) Many of them use Facegen with V3. There are examples in the Files section, and you can post any questions you have to the group. They are very friendly and helpful. I can't afford Facegen myself, but from what others have said...it's not a quick and easy thing, to make a good clone. It does take time, and it's not easy to find suitable images. They need to be high-res, full frontal and profile, expression neutral. Then you have the problem of fitting the head to V3's body (or which ever body you are using). Facegen, from what I've seen, can produce truly excellent likenesses...but they tend to have blank, zombie faces. It's a common problem with digital clones. There may be a great likeness if the face is in a neutral position, but apply any expression, and the likeness is destroyed.

LOL, Thanks. I worked bit with the software and found that it was not all that good and easy. Crashes Frequently. Needs very hi-res pics. Doesn't do textures at all well. So, guess its a no no. Thanks a lot guys!

Frontal and profile shots--Maybe mug shots? Don't remember the URL but thers's a site that has celeb crime stuff. Probably not high resolution but perhaps the full versions are available somewhere.

LOL! Unfortunately, mug shots tend to be poorly lit and poor quality. Facegen, like the Face Room, makes the textures from the photos, so you really need good-quality, evenly lit photos.

Ah, I didn't know it used the textures. Bummer, you'ld have had a treasure trove of Courtney Love.
