In the new Pendragon version.. the skeletons in it do not have teeth modeled in the skulls! They look 100% like the untextured base poser skeletons!

Actually, Gareee is referring to a "direct to video" release, not the major budget Paramount production. Many Wells fans were eagerly awaiting this version as it was supposed to a closer adaptation of the original novel, set at the turn of the century (from 19th to 20th). The producer, a Mr. Timothy Hines, claimed it had a major budget, was filmed on location in England, etc. Let's just say his statements were "less than accurate". It was recorded one single chip video (not even a pro grade camera) around Seattle, WA. Unless a couple of the performers had migated from England, no one was British and it showed in the horrid "accents". And members of this site could have created far more convincing visuals. Case in point, when the first victims were struck with the heat-ray, they lapse dissole to what appears suspiciously like the old Poser 3 or Zygote skeletons, low poly and untextured. More embarrassing, after the "flesh" has disappeared, the skeletons having fallen to the ground, continue to writhe and contort! In fact, the geometry folds in upon itself (you know, the effect when "limits" are not activated in Poser). Many people were hoping for a more authentic story (compared to the Spielberg film) and thus had high hopes for this version. What we got was...disappointing (putting it politely). Sincerely, Bill

I haven't seen Pendragon's WOTW yet, but I do have it at home already. It's a3 hour movie, so I do have to sit down for it. A friend of me went to see Spielberg's version and said it was awesome. Once it's out on DVD, I'll get it. I did see Asylum's version of WOTW that was released 2 weeks ago, also only on DVD. It's the third version this year. The Martian Robots in it are pretty awesome, but I guess that's about it. The rest was rather dissappointing. Once I'm going to watch Pendragon's, I'll check the skeletons!

Where did you find Asylum's WOTW? Never heard of that till now! And for watching pendragon's version, take it in 1 hour long chunks.. it's more palatable that way. (The wife fell asleep 3 times and we staopped it and restarted it later because of that.) It's very slow, and the best description I have if it is watching a train wreck in slow motion. I've already put my copy on Ebay for the same price I paid for it, if anyone wants it. And I have like 6 different versions of the book in my collection.

Thanks for the link.. I googled it and hunted it down, but after surviving he Pendragon version, and think I'll wait a little while before doing another low budget WOTW flick. Plus I read there's also a 100% cgi version featureing the remaster Jeff Wayne album coming out this year as well. That's exciting!

I've heard about that one too and that sure sounds like the most exciting version of wotw. I've played the game years ago (based upon Jeff's version) and that sure was an awesome game, be it very hard to play.

I've watched a part of it (the first hour), but while they look like the poser skeletons a bit, there are a number of differences too. As for the movie being dissapointing, I can see people think so, but after watching the first hour, I think it brilliant. Why? It's more like a piece of art then a movie. It's completely filmed in 1920/30's style, yet with a lot of computer generated scenes, backgrounds and models being used in it. It for sure gives the movie the early 1900 atmosphere it needs. As an WOTW fan, I'm not dissapointed at all. The martians and their machines are great, the acting could be better, there are some huge mistakes in it, but overall it gives one the 1920 movie style feeling, just perfect for WOTW.....
