I clicked on it and it took me to the market place but I don't see Carrara of Any version for sale here. What about Version 4? Shouldn't this forum have links at the top that you can actually go buy the software from?

I don't think that Eovia is selling C4 through the marketplace. And if they're not selling C3 either, than maybe that link should come down or link to Eovia instead. Just a thought.

I know there's a version 4 out because of another current thread that is going on right now. Sheesh! I'm not blind. I've only checked into this forum for the past 4 days because of my conversion problems with the Gemini XII I bought here. When I said I hadn't been paying attention I ment for the past few years since I bought RDS 5.5. Last time I paid attention to what was going on with the software they had just changed the name at Metacreations from Ray Dream to Carrara. Since I had just bought RDS 5.5 weeks before that change, I had no intention of upgrading at that time.

Mizrael- No offense intended. I just assume everyone is like me and keeps up on the graphics info as much as possible. Do you know about Bryce getting acquired by Daz? And Poser by Curious Labs? LOTS of changes since metacreations.

Yes, I have Poser 6 and I won't buy Bryce from DAZ until they have a serious upgrade. I have Bryce 4.0 & 5.0 and they will do me just fine for my purposes. I do this as a hobbie only so I mainly only keep up with the software I use the most. The recent problems I've had using RDS 5.5 to convert a mesh to something I could import into Poser is the only reason I stopped by the Carrara forum. I don't use the old Ray Dream for much of anything these days.

Mizrael, if you have Poser 6 why don't you go over to the Shade forum and try that out. I know they are doing challenges and tutorials on a weekly bases. I saw just the other day on the forum a tutorial on making a t-shirt for use in Poser. Check it out. You already got Shade for FREE when you purchased Poser 6.

I guess you missed my point about converting an RDS file to Poser as being my reason for being here. Shade doesn't import RDS files.

Well if that is all you want to do then you don't need to get Carrara 4. You can save yourself a bundle of cash and purchase Carrara 3D Basics now in version 2 ($99). Eovia is running a 15% discount till mid July so you can pick it up for around $85. Heck, with all the money I just saved you, you can go over to Hash and pick-up Animation Master. Oh, and now you will be able to import and export into Shade as well. Problem solved...

Come to think of it they have been giving away Carrara 1.1 in the various 3D graphics magazines. You could probably solve you import/export problems for just the cost of a magazine.
