Subject: HELP NEEDED WITH MAGNETS!

marija ( ) posted Sat, 09 July 2005 at 7:52 PM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 7:09 PM

I have created a magnet for a body part (right buttock) but I can't duplicate the same effect on the left buttock.I've tried playing with another magnet for it, tried duplicating the settings from the right buttock magnet but can't get the identical effect. The figure is posed simetrically (left-right) so that's not the problem. Is there anything I am missing here? Please help, I know this should be fairly simple. Thank you.

Invert the magnet x-settings. E.g. if right magnet has x=-.044, then copy/paste right magnet settings to left magnet, and change x to .044. Do not invert y or z settings.

My advice would be to turn off IK, then do ALT+CTRL+F to Memorize the figure's pose. Then in the Jount Editor, Zero the figure. Select the Mag you want to copy and do CTRL+C (Copy), then select the other Mag and do CTRL+V (Paste). Next you will have to change the sign for some of the paramiters in the second mag, form memory these are:

yRotate
zRotate
xTran

If these are positive numbers place a minus sign in front to make them negative and if they have a minus sign remove it to make them positive. Then you will have to do the same procedure of copy paste and changing the sign for the Base and Zone. One thing you can't copy and paste is the Falloff Graph, if you haven't touched this then you have no worries, but if you have changed it in one magnet, then you will need to ghange it in the other.

You may like to try my 'MirrorMags' available in the Free Stuff. I made these because of my frustration with the sort of problem you are having.
