I there is free bra and panties, that I can change the colour of for Poser 5 (that will work on both poser 4 and poser5 figures)? I have to create 4 women in different stages of undress. Thanks

It's time to start making a list of sites with free stuff so you can consult them when you need something. All the big ones have search engines. Here are the first two at which I'd look for clothing. http://www.3dcommune.com/3d/free.mv http://www.renderosity.com/freestuff.ez Lots of merchants have free stuff on their sites. PhilC might have some free lingerie for Posette (P4 woman) on his site, so check http://www.philc.com. Generally, you can use the Material room to change the color of any figure or prop, which includes clothes.

Don't forget the clothing that comes with Poser. Judy and Posette each have clothing that could be used as underwear. The one-piece swimsuits can be made into a bra and panties with a transmap. The bikini bottoms can be used as panties. On CourtTV, where women seem to kill and be killed in their underwear a lot, Posette usually appears wearing the halter top as a bra. :-)

I have a couple of very good texture-map/trans-map pairs for the Posette halter top and biker shorts. They're on this site, in the "Pack 1" section. There are V2 versions of the base garments in freestuff, and the demo of Wardrobe Wizard will convert the P4 originals to P5. But be careful. A lot of the different items use the same filenames for the textures, and Poser can get very confused.

How did you texture the halter top and biker shorts - sorry I am new at this, if you couldn't tell! Thanks for the pack 1 - I am going to try it now.

OK, this is the starting point -- Posette wearing the halter top. I chose this figure to give good contrast. This is pretty much what you'll see in the Materials Room when you've clicked on the halter top in the document window.

This is how you can apply a texture. Any texture. Since the colour comes from the texturemap, the first step is to change that horrible purple to white. Ctrl-click on the coloured box -- "Diffuse Color" -- and you get a fairly conventional colour menu popping up. Change the "Specular Color" to black or a very dark grey.

Then click on the tiny little square next to the Diffuse Color, and work through 2D Textures to image_map. Click on the name in the Image Source entry, and use the Browse button to find the file you want.

And a Transparency Map is just another texture. Except, instead of picking a colour, you have a numeric setting. Set the value to 1. Connect the transmap texture. And there you are.

See how the black areas have vanished.

It's often a good idea to connect the transparency map to the Specular Color, which stops any reflections. Have a go with the Transparency Edge and Transparency Falloff dials to see what they do.

And the way the shoulder-strap vanishes? That's down to the limits of Posette.

Thanks for the TUtorial, but mine came out nothing like that - the bra seems to be sitting off center (in the material editor), top left hand corner and it is a dark purplish colour - same goes for the shorts as well. Followed the instructions all the way, but it is not coming out as planned. Also, even after turning down the specular spinner to nothing, I can still see shorts running down her leg (looks like she is wearing glass) - and of course they don't fit properly either (what else is new). So I don't know what is wrong with it.

Are you sure you are using the right figure/clothing? You can't use a texture made for Posette's top on Judy's. And Judy's clothes won't fit Posette.

Try posting a screenshot of your material room settings. Like AntoniaTiger did.
