Subject: Pigs?????

Bobasaur ( ) posted Thu, 14 July 2005 at 10:10 AM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 11:49 AM

Can anyone recommend any place to get pig models? What about a wolf (that's better than the P4 one)? I may have the opportunity to animate something related to "the 3 little pigs" if I can find models. I'm interested in "cartoon character" figures but I'd certainly look at realistic ones as well.

At Mochi's site there's a cute toony piggy. Not very poseable, but really sweet.

What about a wolf (that's better than the P4 one)? DAZ's Millennium Dog has a wolf morph and textures, but there's some debate over how realistic it might be. While you're poking about in Lyne's store at VIP, take a look at her texture-and-morph sets for the P4 wolf.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

The pig-faced morph was something I hadn't even imagined. I guess I'm not as crazy as my wife says I am. {grin}

I can't figure if Mochi's stuff is usable for commercial work...

Any others? I'll pull the graphics from these ideas and take 'em with me when I talk with my potential client. If they like 'em, I'll get 'em. Of course, the more choices, the better.

Hmmm. I suppose if the client had a specific look in mind I might be able to offer someone the opportunity to model (and rig it so it's PPP-ready) one for pay...

@Little_Dragon,
I saw that. I'm not sure that "realistic" is an issue. I just heard the early word on the project last night but I'm thinking a more cartoonish figure might be desired - like something from the old early color cartoons or Porky Pig. Right now this is in the earliest stages of discussion - just brainstorming ideas. Your characters or Lemurtek's "Wolfgang" might work (with clothing) but there aren't any pigs that fit with them - unless you're working on a pigged out version of Furrette?

There is a pig in the freestuff section here. It's not a cartoon and it's not really realistic, but maybe you could use it. Just search for "pig" ;o)

There was one for non-commercial use. That account has been suspended (I just checked the link). I need to be able to use it commercially. Thanks, though.

I made this a long time ago, but it's entirely unsuitable for animation... and it's not Poser-ready. (I modeled it after the Pearls Before Swine comic "Pig"). I'd offer it to you, but it's a mess of seperate pieces. I've been REALLY meaning to redo it, since I'm positive I can make a single mesh much better now. I'll finish it tonight, I think. But either way, I don't know how to rig for Poser. Heh heh.

That's an almost perfect likeness, dvd_master (from the front, at least). Do Rat next.

.... unless you're working on a pigged out version of Furrette?

Hadn't considered that species (been working with canines, felines, vulpines lately), although I suppose it's possible, morph- and texture-wise. I know I can achieve a good curly corkscrew tail, if necessary. Are your versions of the three pigs female?

Furrette and Furraldo can do wolves, certainly.

The heavies have a wart hog but it's not 'cute' like a pig. I wonder if the tusk morph can be removed? @dvd_master That's cute. I wonder if there would be copyright issues with the comic strip people? @Little_Dragon Gender hasn't come up yet.

There probably would be copyright issues, although I showed Pastis (the creator) the pig, and he liked it. Little_Dragon: I tried doing Rat first, but I quit because his ears would constantly have their own perspective that doesn't translate into 3d (they always face the Camera), so it wouldn't look like him except from the front.

There's always the character expansions I did for the heavies Hippo... it's over at Daz, and they have everything on a 30% of sale right now, with some other gift certificate incentive program... http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=2209

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

I think Mochi's stuff can be used commercially - I remember that someone did a render which was used by McDonald's, and it was a V3 wearing Mochi's skirt for MayaDoll.
