Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
Sounds like a great idea. I think more talented 3D modelers are discovering historical eras and subjects to be the richest veins to follow. We have zillions of 3D spaceships that never existed available but very few of the REAL "space ships". I think as 3D modelers have gotten older and more experienced the real stuff is becoming much more fascinating... The De Espona 3D Collection, BTW, has some excellent historic ships, all highly detailed and textured, but only available in MAX format...

This one? http://www.deespona.com/3denciclopedia/index_ships.htmlThat's the one... I paid $495 for the ENTIRE collection- 9 CD's, and it is absolutely the best model investment I ever made. You can make incredible Motion-Picture quality scenes with these models. You need lots of RAM and a fast machine, but with realistic water effects its like being on the high seas sailing with the wind and the salt spray splashing against your monitor glass... BTW, we need MORE Poser sailor characters- Pirates, Merchants, Brit and Yankee sailors, etc...

This isn't directly Poser related but I couldn't decide which forum was most appropriate so here it is. I've just discovered a project to recreate in 3D graphics all the British and German naval vessels of the first world war. Its originator, Tony Lovell, is working in Rhino but would welcome volunteers using other tools. Quite a lot of ship fittings have already been made and can be downloaded in Rhino format. I'm particularly interested in this project as my great uncle was a stoker on HMS Ardent, a British destroyer, and was blown to smithereens in June 1916 at the battle of Jutland. He died the day before his only son was born. I'm planning to create parts for HMS Ardent and am starting with its 4" guns. If you've got some time and talent to spare please make contact with Tony.
