Most of us here are "self-taught" and most of us truly sucked badly at poser when we started. That being said, I won't "teach" you how to use Poser, but I'll tell you what I did to teach myself how to use it.

First off, Poser comes with a user manual. If yours was an electronic download, it's there in PDF format. Open it up and read it as you go. :-)

What I did when I started using Poser was stick to the default characters and simple props that came with the program. I practiced poses, lighting, camera angles and so on. Later added textures to the figures and props. Rendered with no background other than black. Gave myself a pat on the back everytime I discovered something cool and refused to let the program intimidate me. :-)

So, read the manual. Read around here, especially when someone posts a problem and asks how to fix it. Stick with the default figures, then go download Michael 3 and Victoria 3 from Daz3D later - they're free. Keep your scenes simple and clean. Post your WIPs here and ask for help.

Hope that helps!

Also Poser 6 comes with a tutorial manual built right into the program. At the top click Help and from the drop down menu chose Poser Tutorial Manual. Read it and you will learn how to do 93.7% of everything that can be done with Poser.

If you are new to 3d and Poser reading Poser 6 Revealed should help. It explains things in very clear, untechnical terms, and it's also an inexpensive book. It is available on the Curious Labs web site (e-frontiers) and amazon.com.
