Subject: Has my Poser4 died a horrible death?

I got a major lock up using Poser 4 today as it went into a never ending unresponsive state loading some textures. I killed it via the task manager, and when I went to start it back up it just didn't work right. If I tried to change the window size I just got a big white area added on to the original window, and when I try to load figures they load, but they're invisible - I can see the body parts when I move the cursor over them but they don't stay visible. Also it when I try to render it just basically pops up the render status bar and then does nothing. I did an uninstall/reinstall of Poser 4, but the problem is still there, which means it's either in my runtime (which I kept) or something else (I don't think the disk is bad). Anyone ever experience anything like this, and if so did you solve it? Maybe this is someone trying to tell me it's time to finally bite the bullet and upgrade to a newer Poser version.... Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance. Unzipped

I had exactly the same problem and never solved it. I managed to keep my Runtime, ditched P4 and moved to P5.

Go to edit and click on general preferences then click on set to factory state. This will restore Poser4 and then you can set it up the way you want. At least this has worked for me.

I had messed with my Windows swap space size. I guess I set it too big. After I set it back to the Windows recommended size everything works just fine. Put this one in the faqs somewhere I guess. Poser 4 lives to play another day! Unzipped

May be you should install the update from e-freontier that deals with P4 on PC with more than 500 Meg of Memory. good luck Ulli
