Well, after many infuriating years of waiting for the technology in my area to catch up to the rest of the UK, I've finally managed to get myself BroadBand.

But all is not rosy methinks. I have to admit that one of the most important reasons for wanting BroadBand, was in hope that I'd be able to surf the painfully slow Rendo at break-neck speed.

Well sure things are faster now, no doubt about it. But when I surf here, there are some things that seem no faster than they did on 56K. I'm wondering if theres some specific settings that will work better when surfing Rendo.

If anyone here has any ideas or suggestions, that'd be cool - like a tip or trick with the settings or something.

I gave up as a computer technician some time ago, and it's things like this which remind me how thankfull I was when I made that decision.

Try getting a program like Ad-Aware and clearing your computer of spyware...could be helpful.

uh...I'm on a T3 line (at work), megabits per second, and I get Gateway timeouts..;) You'll never go back, but I hate to burst yer bubble..;)

Rendo is most always slow everyday and I'm on HS cable!

Renderosity is the one and only VERY slow site for me too... I thought it has to do with 'Rosity itself?

There are threads occasionally on the Community forum discussing this, the Powers That Be know about it, they keep tweaking the server, but it always seems to slow down occasionally.

If you think Renderosity is slow, you should try Microsoft.com. :)

mm..I'm still pretty @#$'d off at Microsoft..I downloaded an 'update' for Win 2k, and it corrupted ntoskernel (a very bad thing)..I still don't have half my programs back...grrr..;)
I have noticed that the count of who's here has gone way up..around 2,500 users on most days..maybe that has something to do with it.

Places like this one are the reason tabbed browsing was invented. (The Firefox users should know about this one.) A fast net connection can't compensate for a bogged down server. But it does help in many other areas. Think of all the free downloads, flash animations, and such that you can go after now. :)

Yeah I'm real happy with it, even though it's a long way off what a lot of other BroadBand speeds are (mine only shows 2.3Mbps), but it sure as hell beats 56K DialUp.

I thought maybe it's just my ISP, but I can't really blame them 'cos it's real fast on just about every other site. I dunno, like one said - it must be just a Rendo thing :-/

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions and wit, gonna browse the galleries now, in minutes instead of days :-D
