I would think you could just set up a runtime on the CD, and it would work just like any other external runtime. You might find this tutorial useful:

However, I think you'll find CDs are pretty small compared to your average runtime. You'd probably be better off buying another hard drive. Get an external hard drive that hooks up to your USB or Firewire port, and installation is easy. Prices are lower than ever.
Yeah, I actually boo-boo'd I should have said DVD. 4gb should be pretty good size for what I am thinking of using. Deecey, thanks, I was wondering about that. Wasn't sure if it still looked for the object after loading in or continued to look through rendering. I like the idea of the external HD. Think I'll be looking into that. Thanks all for the answers :)

Ok, I have a 80gb HD with like 90% of Poser stuff. Time to start moving things to discs O.o Like make an all animal CD or all anime CD What I need to know is this..when using the CD drive for Poser 5 how do I go about doing it? First, can I just set up a runtime on the disc and will the cr2 and pz2 find the geometries and textures on the disc or do I need to put those into the original P5 runtime anyhow? Other question is how do I go about directing P5 to the CD drive? Just add the drive runtime to the folders? I really need to make room..I have 6gb of HD left. LOL
