I bought Poser 5 back during it's pre release sale. I never loaded it because of all the problems with it. It is stil in the box. Now I want to load it and all the fixes. Whoa..where did Curious Labs and the fixes go? Now I see that there is a Poser 6 and a new company. Should I buy the P6 upgrade...or just buy the full version and by pass all the previous versions. Poser is a daily program I use in my work and I am at the point I want better renders and better lighting.

CL was purchased by e-Frontier (a Japanese company, and makers of Shade) a while back, and they recently made the "official" name change to e-Frontier within the last couple of months. If you bought Poser 5, you are entitled to an upgrade price on Poser 6. Go for it, because Poser 6 is much improved over Poser 5!

A couple of mentions, though ... Make sure you have the most recent drivers for your video card before installing Poser. It's very picky about having the most recent Open GL drivers and such. Also, there is a service release for Poser 6 (SR1), and some content updates as well.

Poser 6 is not improved and much slower. I still use Poser 5 over Poser 6. The upgrade price didn't make me feel entitled at all but just the oppposite. I don't like the new models or the lack of dials & compatabilty with the face room (Ben & Kate). The best part about Poser 6 is the hair models but still not worth the price. JMHO

JMHO " Read more reviews of poser 6 before accepting this opinion. Almost across the board, EVERYONE is happy with the upgrades and new features in Poser 6. There are a few dissatisfied people (as usual) but P6 has become a real win for CL/E-Frontiers. Check RDNA's Poser 6 forum for unbiased opinions, and tons of new feature tips n tricks.

May be people think that P6 is slower, not having in mind that P6, as every new software, needs memory and you have to have as much memory as your machine can eat.

No, its that the render engine does MUCH more then P5's and when every you add more features to rendering, you slow render time as well. Now that I know how to use the adjustments in P6's render features, I get speedy renders, just like I did with P5.
