Subject: OT: One last 'Beam me up, Scotty'

If you haven't heard, and I just did, the actor who played Scotty on Star Trek, James Doohan, died today at 85 from pneumonia. Farewell and adieu.

C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg off.

My favorite character on the original series and probably the most unused. They could have done alot with the Scotty character over the years.... The Pipes, Man, Pipes, do you hear'em....

As one who grew up watching ST TOS my heart is saddened by the loss of this wonderful actor. One of his shining talents was accents - the one that landed him the part of Lieutenant Commander Montgomery "Scotty" Scott. During his audition for the part he kept them entertained for over an hour with the variety of accents he knew.

On the show he was a hard drinker, stubborn, and always looking out for his "bairns." :-)

Who can ever forget the time in "The Trouble With Tribbles" when Scotty refused to fight for his captain's honor but threw a punch at the Klingon because he insulted the Enterprise? :-)

They are sending his ashes up on the shuttle to be allowed to roam amongst the stars.. One eternal journey.. I also lurrve Star Trek, there's only 2 episodes of Enterprise left to go over here (UK)... I don't know what I'll do with no more Star Trek... Enterprise was my fav series.. Enjoy y'travels Scotty!

He'll be missed. Always was my favorite TOS character. Great Next Gen episode too. Goodbye Captain Scott.
