Well project has continued, I'm going to take diolma's advice and add a lean-to as well. This is just a ROUGH texturing job just to get a feel for the colors.. The metals aren't going to be shiny,, and actually some of the things that are metal are going to be wood.. And the wood texture is goofed.. It's just to get the colors across.

Oh yeah, and I added some seed bags and a water shaft internally / fixed some goofy polygons. =)

Oh yeah, and none of the ropes are textured yet (I somehow lost my rope texture I made)..and the sails need color... wow, kind of wish I had waited on posting this. It's only here because I did it last night and sort of ran out of steam around 2 AM...I spent an hour trying to UV the main part and got sick of the messy map..So I put it back in the render-room and let it go. You know.. because of the style of rendering it took about 6 hours, therefore I felt I should post it..

Well I think its coming along very well! And I look forward to the wips as it progresses. :-D Keep at it!

Are you a robot? Seriously, are you? That just keeps getting more and more amazing. I'd think it'd look good with a rooster or at least a rooster-shaped weather vane on top of the roof. This begs for a kickass animation btw.

Looking great you have acheived the 90% point. the appearance of 90% of the work is done. That means you are actually halfway done because getting the details is the thing. Great work.

Yeah, that seems like the way it goes Dann-O =). I actually had the fins / general structure done in about 40 minutes. Which pretty much looked the "general" way it would in the end. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Looking really cool! Excellent imagination you have:)

I never intended to make art.

Ornlu, I've got a free rope texture I downloaded from somewhere. Do you want me to send it to you?

Now it needs a landscape scene thats just as good, or a sweet render.

LOL! Drac's Back! Actually, I think the windmill looks amazing, even if you aren't happy with the textures you gotta admit they add so much to the model! Keep going...this can only get better and better!!!!!

Tiny update.. only had about 20 minutes last night, Fixed the wood texture and added a simple rope texture, next step is separating the cloth polys from the support polys on the fins..For some reason I just modeled that part as one piece.

:^) Don't forget to come up for air every once in a while. Nice work!

International Ornlu Day is now marked on my calendar. This is coming along great, but those sacks outside are bigger than the door. Who could lift one?

I think your mill rocks! It has just the right blend of fantasy and realism to it! I think if you're smart you'll offer it for sale in the MP, or at Daz when you get it finished. *Danamo dodges sticks and stones and epithets hurled in his direction by those who would love to see Ornlu offer this as a freebie!

TwistedBolt ( ) posted Sun, 24 July 2005 at 2:34 PM

I agree, the model is too good for a freebie, make some sweet pocket change with it.

This is genius, man! Keep it up! Dang! That's awesome! :)

Ornlu ( ) posted Sun, 24 July 2005 at 5:47 PM

Yeah, I know UVDan, that was one of the things I noticed as well. They're just huge right now so that they could be seen in the render. I'm not sure about what I'm going to do with the front door as it's GIANT.. Maybe I should just keep my original idea of calling it a "utility" door for hauling large parts and working on the apparatus =). ANyway, thanks for the input guys, as always it's much appreciated. Btw my internet's broken, so if this shows up multiple times it's because I'm experiencing 30-80% packet loss due to a low USNR of 10-23... Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

draculaz ( ) posted Mon, 25 July 2005 at 1:39 AM

"30-80% packet loss due to a low USNR of 10-23" ? right... I get that too. all the time. usually it's because of my 11-42'er, but sure. drac (no idea of what he just said)

This makes me think of Warcraft.

I agree with moongoat, it does desrve a kickass Animation!

Rayraz ( ) posted Fri, 29 July 2005 at 12:30 PM

Looks awesome! I like the color of the wood in the 1st pic though.. how about taking the wood texture from the 2nd pic and giving it a bit more of a wood color? it looks so much like the bricks now.
