Hi! I need to export an object from Bryce 5 into a format which can be handled by Cinema 4D. I try to use the function export an object but it's allways disabled. Is there a way to do the export. I attached a sreenshot to show what I mean. Thanks for your help! Cheers Oliver

Bryce only exports terrains and lattices. ungroup everything, press the E thing above G. Ctrl-D or Ctrl-E, I forgot. and then you'll be taken to a separate menu where you can choose what to export it as and with what detail. drac

Thanks Drac. Unfortunally some the "R" which contains a negative cube to cut the bow of the "R" won't show an "E"...

Then you can't export it. The best thing to do would be to export it from Bryce and then import it into a mesh editor, such as Wings3D or Blender, and fix it there. But Bryce simply will not export booleans, I'm afraid. =)

or just build it in cinema?

Or use Elefont to generate the letters and import into C4D.

What version of cinema are you working with? Since 6 or CE+ there is a text spline tag which when dropped into a spline extrude object will give you exactly what you are looking for. The text spline generates automatically for the entered text in either postscript or truetype fonts.

I use Elefon often. But in this case I had to manipulate the "R" with a negative cube. After this the "E" didn't show up anymore. I don't have Cinema only Bryce 5.

You can also use a paint program for a heightmap and then a terrain in Bryce and export as an obj or 3ds, etc. Check the link 'Creating 3d text in Bryce'

Ah, sorry, I thought you did from your original post. What is the font, perhaps I can help with a native C4D object. Or Zhann's proposal works well too.

Why not just use Anim8or? That's one freeware we ought not to ignore!

What is a CRIF?
