I saw this on MSNBC and thought it was unusual. By the only universal law (ever notice how there seem to be a lot of those?), just when you think you've run out of idiots in the world, another one is born. =D

Wait ... so she throws a party for her offspring because she wants to seem cool ... I dont know whether it's her or the children who are more stupid. I don't think any of them should contribute to the gene pool just to be safe.

It's only because we are a decent folk! The truth is,people don't really care and this sort of thing really aint strange to them. My only fear is the psychological state of them kids when they 'grow up'.

What is a CRIF?

"Op een oude fiets moet je het leren" is the saying overhere in the Netherlands, its better to learn to ride on a old bicycle. But no thanks, there is a serious flaw in one persons behaviour with regarding yourself as "cool" by doing this.

You know, if this were a Dad who did this with young girls, there would've been no plea agreement and his sentence would've been closer to 7 years. Well, you know we'll be seeing this on Law & Order this coming season.

bandolin-- It's only sexual discrimination if the person in question is female. =D

pakled ( ) posted Wed, 27 July 2005 at 10:13 AM

or a lot more..around here, the saying is '16'll get you 20'. Yeah, to be honest, if you're still worried about being cool at 40, you've got deeper issues..
just putting in a kind word for older women in general, not trying to put a new spin on 'boy toy'.

Hehe, I'm a cool mom and in my 40's but I haven't had sex with a minor since ... well since I was a minor. My current requirements, the boy must be old enough to legally purchase a drink in a bar with me. Roflmao, so far I haven't gone for anyone that young. Maybe someday, till then I'm still working on securing a legal separation, sigh.

This proves again that as soon as you start trying to be cool, you lose your cool :-P

People who try to be cool, or who love to show off the fact that they're cool aren't really cool, they're just show-offs, and like everywhere show-offs have followers that think they're cool, which is the only thing that sustains their supposed status of coolness. In order to keep the followers impressed, often stupid, crazy, distastefull, agressive or just daring actions are undertaken. And because the followers are in often amazed at or impressed by these actions they will often follow the "cool" show-offs' lead and join in or even surpass the show-off's actions in an attempt to gain respect. It's a crazy social system of dominant people putting themself into a position of power and people who wish to belong to a group in order to "be someone" who follow these dominant people. Often the followers also take comfort in having a "higher power" above them. The supposed "coolness" is nothing more then propaganda which helps to maintain the structure of the system. This system however, actually misplaces the meaning of being cool, because being cool is really only just what it says it is; staying cool. It is a state of being comfortable with the situation, either by being in control, or by not being intimidated by the fact that the situation might be out of ones control, it is a state of "being in your element" and being confident and not easily discouraged.

Rayraz-- Sounds like the Matrix, in a way. =) Fran-- So... they thought you were more cool because they thought you'd fired a gun at someone, or less cool? Either way is just, well, sad. I know a guy who was in the US Navy Seals in Vietnam, apparently he took part in several assassinations, had to kill civilians (it was covert ops; i.e., they don't know you're there, and never know you are there... therefore, if a baby cries because of your presence, well... yeah...). Right now he's tortured with regret over some of the things he's done. On the plus side, however, he has some really cool stories, and he tells them pretty well. I think he's pretty "cool", not because he's killed people, but because he has a conscience and is still human even after killing a large number of people. Not sure if I could do the same thing.
