Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 13 6:58 am)
Any procedural item is a "virtual" one created by custom programming. It's not a standard item made of polys, etc. Each program that makes such items uses their own non-standard programming. So it's no surprise they can't be exported. Vue 5i at least tries to make standard approximations to export, like making an exportable mesh terrain from their custom procedural terrain (i think).
I did a quick test last night. A Vue sphere textured with the standard black and white chequered texture. Exported it as an object (obj) file with a texture map. Reimported it back into vue and the scale of the cheque had changed. Looking at the UV map Vue generated its sort of right but not perfect. I'll probably open a tech support thread about this at e-on's site later. You might want to open one about the similar issue your experiencing too. It may be we are the first people to have the problem.

I've just put the new beta on and the first few tests I've done are producing texture maps that match what I would expect to see. I havn't tried bringing in an object with its own UVs to see if they are preserved on export.

Why is it that Vue can't export a simple object with procedural textures? I mage a simple cylinder in Lightwave applied a test around the side ( top and bottom had different names) then saved it as a lightwave object. When you bring it into Lightwave the UV textures are all screwed up. Any Ideas?
