Hi guys. This lil fella just happened to be sliding along the window at my hotel.It's not the prettiest shot,(duh), so I doubt it will ever make it into my gallery. I have tried a number of times to improve it,though,i.e.remove the window frame,but it never looks right.The original is HUGE (like 2500X2000) so I can get a really tight close-up with plenty of detail.I just don't know what to do with this!I'd like to do something,but what? Any ideas? Or maybe it's hopeless and I should just quit yanking at my hair already!I could really use your imput!Thanks everyone!Hope you're enjoying your weekend!-Marlene

I think you did really great on this oh so cool capture. Dont see why you would wanna remove the window-frame to begin with...its the fact its making its way over THE window that makes it so special. Wonderful capture and nice colours and contrast as well. #:O)

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

Well taken shot - no good asking me for artistic inspiration :)

And every one said, 'If we only live,
We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---
To the hills of the Chankly Bore!'
Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to sea in a Sieve.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. 2. Combine the butter, parsley, shallots, garlic, and brandy in a bowl and blend well. (bugger it...have a slurp of Brandy) 3. Place a snail in each shell and fill the cavity with the seasoned butter. (If you do not have shells, you can use escargot baking dishes - this is actually how I prefer to make them. Most of such dishes hold 6 escargot apiece.) 4. Place on a baking pan and bake for twelve minutes.(have another Brandy) 5. Serve hot, as an appetizer, on individual snail dishes - or on small folded napkins on plates, to keep the shells from sliding about. Also, small silver forks to easily eat them with are a good idea. 6. Make sure to have plenty of good bread alongside, to mop up the delicious butter sauce! :) (more BRandy) 7. Also good with a bit of Parmesan sprinkled on top of each.....and....(more Brandy) Voila! Yum Yum ....fit for a Queen!

Ewwww... lol I'll pass on the hors'doevres or however you spell it! What is wrong with this??? That is a better question I think. I wouldn't change anything myself...hehe I love it! It's awesomely clear and the dof is great! I like the contrast of the colors in the soft background with his very gorgeous shell! Looks fantastic I think...good enough to..ea....ewwww noooo don't eat him! Bravo on a beautiful shot...Looks like a macro to me!! :-) ((((Hugggs)))))

Aw thanks Maggie!I don't know,it just looks like it's not at it's full potential to me. Sheila,I already tried something like that (not the sky part,altho that would be rather surrealistic)and I'm afraid it didn't come out too good. Thanks Richard and Andreas. LOL@Anthony.Hey,Brian...Thanks for the recipe.I don't think I could go quite that far tho!I could order it ,sure,but,cooking them?Hmmmm.Not sure if I could do that!Gives me the creepy-crawlies to be honest.But in a restaurant,MMMMMMM!Bring on the garlic!

Me? I'd cut him out and layer him onto a techie frame of a colony dwelling looking out onto a lunar or martian landscape. Just like the snail, we'll have to carry our houses with us, and, just like the snail, we will take forever to get there. Great shot! Carolly
