Subject: Tan line mask for Jessi

Hi all, does anyone have, or know of, a tan line mask for Jessi, or a texture for her with a clear tan line to copy? I'm getting a headache trying to figure out which parts of the texture will end up where on the body. Or maybe there's some trick I don't know of? Thanks!

I can honestly say there is a demand for something like this for all the models... hint hint

I guess you know Photoshop can handle this, using layers and paths.

At least for Daz3d stuff, there are numerous seam guides that at least show you the color-code edges. Match purple to purple, green to green,... A good place to start.

In Photoshop, you can use paths to create nice curved sectios to fill with a lighter color. A crude but effectively way to use this is

  1. open target MAT
  2. paste seam guide as new layer, and resize it to match.
  3. create a new layer for tan lines
  4. using the seam guides as a reference, create crude paths
  5. fill with light color / white
  6. save as MAT, check in poser
  7. use Gaussian blur to fuzz the edges of the tan lines
  8. set the transparancy very low (like 10%), or alternately use layer properties to lighten
  9. save as the same MAT
  10. recheck in poser

Is the problem that the tan lines don't match the clothing? For example, a sun dress with a fallen strap?

I guess you know Photoshop can handle this, using layers and paths. I guess I know... :-) No, I'm just being lazy here. If someone had already done it, it might save me some tedious work. Anyway, thanks for the step-by-step. I know the basic procedure, but tried to do it without seam guides at first. Kids, don't try that at home. It doesn't work. Is the problem that the tan lines don't match the clothing? For example, a sun dress with a fallen strap? No, the problem is just that the tan lines don't match my imagination. I guess I'll just have to learn how to texture and use seam guides.

I have one in work if you can wait. Just finished textures and have to decide what other stuff to include with her. But...it won't be for a week or so. Pic doesn't show much because of modesty. But it's a bikini. And yes...that is Jessi. I just morphed her head like crazy.

Thanks! I've been able to cook up something in the meantime, but you can never have to many textures or, for that matter, tan lines, can you? ;-) Nice morphs, by the way.

I've put up a render in my gallery which I'm not linking to here because of modesty.
